Chapter fourteen

Annabelle's POV
It's been three days since Christmas and am really excited or rather thrilled.
I have been having the best time of my life with grandma and my mom.We've just been eating drinking and going out much.

And the one person behind this merry has been my mom.She brought new energy and light to us since she came back from the city.She amazed me until I stopped to wonder if she is really my mum, and grandma too seemed to share the same expression of disbelief in her daughter. I was glad to see this new side of her.She became jovial playful and even cracked jokes with us, unlike the other days when she was always solemn strict or angry at little things. I hope she's changed for good or at least put that boring side of hers at bay for a while.

I would say this Christmas has been fun because it has brought back the bond between the three of us that was lost.yeah,I know grandpa isn't here with us but I couldn't be any happier. I thank God for granny and mom they are my only family and am proud to have them.

Being sixteen feels good and am waiting to get into the new year with new energy. I have alot planned out for the new year and am hoping God will see me through.

After my birthday,I thought about what Brian asked me and I considered being friends with him.Well I wanted to know much about him as well.

It wasn't easy at first to agree to his request because of the effect he had on me.His presence around me made my heart race but that was no excuse to reject his offer. I promised myself that I would try to act normal whenever he was around me.This is because I didn't want him to think that he can control me.

We agreed to meet meet up today at the beautiful scenery of pineapple and he was aware of the place because he followed me once to that place only to scare me. I informed grandma and my mom about our plans to go to the scenery.Grandma agreed to it because he met Brian before and she had requested we try being friends.Mum on the other hand was in denial but agreed after grandma convinced her.I wouldn't blame her because she has never met Brian before.

After having my lunch,I went to my room to get ready. It was a bit sunny, so I decided to put on my knee-length denim short,a white top and black sneakers that my mom had recently bought me.I carried my black hoodie in hand just in case it gets cold. I put own my cap to protect my pretty face from the sun.

I grabbed my phone and bid my women goodbye before I headed for the gate.Well I bet Brian would be waiting for me by the gate because he suggested that l walk with him to the place. Although I preferred each of us get their by ourselves I just agreed, and now I feel nervous about it.

I tried as much to behave normal so that he couldn't see my sudden change of mood upon seeing him.When I got to the gate,I stopped for some minutes to exhale the breath I didn't know have been holding. I tried to compose myself then I opened the gate,I saw him on his bicycle and he was busy with his phone.

He immediately stopped to see me and that's when I locked the gate behind me to avoid his gaze. I looked up only to see him still gazing at me.He examined me from head to toe then back to my face. I did the same too, he had this cologne that got deep to my nostrils.He wore a fitting denim rugged trousers and a black v neck shirt that showed his muscles.He also wore a red and black cap that matched with his sneakers.

I had to admit he looked cute and he knew how to dress well.He just looked expensive and I begun to worry if he would make fun of my dressing but he didn't.He was smiling mischievously then it hit me that I had stared too much.

We exchanged greetings then we begun our short adventure,I walked as he rode his bicycle slowly to keep up with my pace. I noticed the bicycle was different from the one I bumped into the other day, I wasn't surprised because he was a rich kid who would buy as much as he wanted.

Brian kept stealing glances at me and I could see it in the corner of my eyes. I warned him to watch where he was going so that I couldn't be the one saving him this time.He laughed out loud and I hadn't said anything funny.

I ignored him while he kept laughing as I walked quickly past him.Of course I knew he would catch up with me because he had his bicycle. I checked my wristwatch and it's then I realized we were fifteen minutes away from home.We still had fifteen minutes to get to the highlands.

I looked at Brian wanting to tell him we should hurry,but his face was curved with a huge smile and that made me confused.

"BJ I want to smile too,mind sharing what that smile is about?"I decided to see his expression at the use of his names inition.He looked surprised but he seemed to like it because he didn't warn me about calling him that. Besides he too nicknamed me Anna and "love" on the letters he wrote to me on my birthday.
I haven't heard him call me in person,I would love to hear how it sounds on his lips.

Just as I thought he said it as if he was reading my thoughts.

"Anna,thank you very much."I wondered why he thanked me.

He noticed how perplexed I was then he stopped his bicycle only to hold my Left wrist.

His touch though small sent shivers down my spine."This looks good on you hand,"he said pointing at the wristband he bought me.

So,BJ was thanking me for putting on his gift. I smiled at him and  that made him smile too.

I told him we should hurry so that we could get to the highlands quickly.We preferred to meet at the highlands than at home because we needed some peace and quiet.

We kept on walking and before we knew it we were there. I went to sit on my favorite spot where I could watch the rapid waterfalls and BJ joined me too.He sat next to me and his cologne was all over the place.

I didn't know how to behave around him and I was still nervous. I kept quiet waiting for him to initiate a conversation since he wanted us to meet and talk.

He cleared his throat and that made me look at him.He begun by saying how sorry he is and how he regrets treating me the way he did. I looked into is eyes and I could tell he was sincere.

I assured him that I had already forgiven him because he looked at me pleadingly waiting for my response.Besides,he had already sent me an apology card and that was enough.Moreover,l agreed to be friends with him because it was the only way I could get to know him.

We continued talking randomly about things and making complements about how beautiful the place is. I had done that for a thousand times since I got to this place on the first day.

We didn't realize how much we had talked and laughed about a couple of things.Spending time with BJ made me feel like I have known him for long.He was fun person to be around.

Our conversation had taken another level where we got to know each other's likes and dislikes. I was glad because the friendship between us was really growing.

When BJ was cracking a joke I laughed alot and that was when he took out his phone to take a picture of me. When I realized his intentions,I jokingly elbowed him on the left side of his stomach and he faked a hurt.That's when I also took a picture of him and his face had a funny expression.

When we were done chit chatting,I looked at my phone and it was already 5:00pm.I requested we head back home because I was exhausted and it was getting late for me.BJ didn't like the idea he wanted us to still stay but I was already on my foot ready to go. I left him still sitting down and told him to suit himself.
He is a boy and he didn't have any problem staying up late.I on the other hand needed to get home early  before granny and mum comes here to get me.He saw my seriousness about going and he followed me and caught up with me nevertheless.
He requested me to sit on the saddle of his bicycle as he rode but I was reluctant about it. Anyways,I decided to give it a try because I have never handled bicycles before and I warned him to be careful or I'll bit him up if he makes me fall.
