"C'mon, stop being stop being such a big baby Alice!" my best friend Bailey laughed.
"Are you sure this is even a short cut? I'd rather be in trouble for coming home past curfew than to go in this cave!" I said. I think my voice trembled. It was very dark outside on this warm summer night. Did I mention we were in the woods and standing outside of a dark cave?
"Yes I'm sure. Are you coming or what?" Bailey asked impatiently.
I must've hesitated for too long because Bailey started walking into the cave. "Stay out here in the woods I guess." Bailey's voice echoed off of the cave walls.
"No! Wait Bailey! I'm coming!" I yelled, running into the cave like a track star.
"Look, I found the opening! Our homes are just a few minutes away!" Bailey cheered happily.
It was dark and scary in the cave, and I was feeling on the rigid rock walls to see, or feel, in this case, where I was going. "Bailey? Where are you? Bailey? Bail-." I was now standing in front of two paths. "Bailey! Which path did you take to get over there?"
"What path?" she asked at the other end of the cave. "Just take one. Hurry, before our parents find out where we were!"
I began walking through the path on my right. I took about six steps when I fell into a hole. I screamed as I was falling. The last words I've ever heard from anybody Over New Jersey was: "Alice!" I fell for what seemed like forever. It was like I was falling in a bottomless pit. I fell for a good minute or two. The hole ended, and I was now falling from the ceiling of The Underground. I was screaming my lungs out. I've never been so scared in my life.
The body of water that I landed in shut me up. I made a huge splash. Then, I saw black. Darker than any shade of black I've seen in my entire life. When I opened my eyes, I saw something...or someone that I will never forget. My name is Alice Quinn, and this is my story.
