"Are you sure you don't want me to help you with the dishes?" I asked my older sister Monroe. It was about 7:00pm and we had just finished eating dinner with our parents.
"Nah, I'm fine Alice, I'll wash them on my own." she smiled, reassuring me that she wasn't being sarcastic.
"Okay." I replied, turning around making my way down the hallway to the den where my parents were. Monroe probably had something important on her mind. She rarely liked to be alone.
I made my way to the den and plopped myself down next to my parents who were cuddled up sharing a brown blanket. They were on the couch watching an episode of Modern Family.
"Hey Ali." my dad smiled. His bright smile and big brown eyes never got old.
"Hey dad. Wait, is this the new episode?" I asked referring to the Modern Family that was playing on the flat screen TV on the wall.
"Yep. Sorry Alice. We have it recording so that you can watch it later." my mom, with her beautiful brown hair, brown eyes, and flawless skin, apologized.
"That's alright mom. I'll just hang out in my room then." I got up and faced my parents and told them goodnight. I walked out somewhat disappointed that I didn't get to watch that episode. I turned to my left where the staircase was and walked the steps to my room on the right.
I hopped on my bed and immediately checked all my social media. Mostly Instagram. I kinda liked to stalk my crush-Nero Young. He is the cutest boy on the planet in my eyes. With his cute curly brown afro, cute brown eyes and perfect light brown skin, cute basketball uniform. Basically, everything about him was adorable. I made sure not to like anything. Nero probably stalks me too. I giggled thinking about it.
About 10 minutes later, my phone started to buzz nonstop. I checked my Kik app and noticed I was in a group chat. I saw that Rose, Kalani, Bailey, Hendrix,.....and Nero-my good friends, were in the chat. I looked at the chat. It read:
Rose: Hey Guys!
Kalani: Hilo!❤
Hendrix: Hey Rose. Hey Baby.^
Kalani: Awe!! Love you!
Bailey: you guys are disgusting. Ctfu
Kalani: Hater^
Nero: Hey Ali ❤
Butterflies were in my stomach when I saw Nero's message. I immediately kiked my friends back:
Me: hey Nero. Hey guys.
Bailey: wassup
Hendrix: hi
Nero: what? No luv?
Me: lol Nero. ❤^
Nero: Thanx
Rose: Awwww^
Nero: IKR
Kalani: so what are you guys doing?
Hendrix: thinking about you.❤
Bailey: ^
Rose: lol working on Mrs.Scott's hw
Nero: thinking about Alice.
Me: ^
Me: I'm going to go take a shower and get ready for bed. Ttygl!!
Nero: awe. Can I come?^
Me: NO!
Nero: lol. Okay bye Alice. ❤
Hendrix: peace. ✌
Kalani: bye
Bailey: you guys should just go out already and stop being Friends with Benefits!! Its killing me!
Rose: yea. *coughs* Alice + Nero *coughs*
Me: bye guys lol
I got up from my bed and grabbed my pajamas and towel from my dresser and walked into the bathroom that is connected to my room. I took a shower with my Bath & Body Works collection. It smelled like Heaven in the bathroom while I was dressing in my pajamas. I then put my shoulder length, curly, dark brown hair, into two braids to dry for school in the morning. Then, I washed my face, brushed my teeth, and put my braided hair in my satin scarf. I walked out of the bathroom and made my way to the side table where my phone was. I checked the time which read 9:30pm. "Wow! I can't believe that took 45 minutes!" I said to myself. I'm usually quicker than that. I put my phone back on the side table, crawled into bed, and turned my lamp off.
As soon as I closed my eyes, my phone buzzed on the side table. I checked the message. It was from Nero and said:
Nero: We should. Goodnight Beautiful
I blushed and thought about us going out. I mean, we would make a cute couple. Nero Young and Alice Quinn. The most adorable couple at Camden High. Then, I received another text message. This time is was from Monroe. It said:
Monroe: I have something to tell you tomorrow!!
I immediately replied back. I knew something was on her mind tonight. I just didn't know what it was.
Me: you're not pregnant....right??
I mean, she was far from ugly. My sister was a perfect 10.
Monroe: no girl! Are you crazy! I'm only a junior. And you would be such a young aunt. You're only a sophomore! Get some sleep Alice. Lol you definitely need it.
I laughed and laid my phone down to charge overnight. I did what Monroe said. Tomorrow was going to be interesting.
Little did I know that this was my last peaceful day Over New Jersey.
