Roman Empire had to run, though he didn't like it, he needed to. Sweden and his Vikings were charging in. Roman Empire and his army had gotten a surprise attack and he needed to keep England (Britain) away from them who was only 5 years old.

If they managed to get him they would have complete control over him. And they can't have him. Roman said in his mind. England was just a boy. He was so quick at learning and always wanted to learn more but he was terribly shy. He won't talk to anyone but Roman.

England was curled up in Roman's arms, he held on to Roman's shoulder and he could see what was behind them. He had a tired and fearful look.

Roman was running through a forest behind where they were staying. Roman brought England were ever he went in case the Vikings wanted to surprise attack. Which they did. It was night time and the moon's glow was the only light they got, sometimes they had very little as the branches of the thick oak trees covered it. Being night time, explained why England was tired. The grass was dark (or maybe that was the poor lighting) and long. The forest wasn't too old in a way where dead trees were on the ground to slow the two.

Behind them was the army of Vikings, some had torches and others had weapons. When Roman was surprised attacked he was separated from the rest of his army so he hoped that they would catch up. The glow from their torches made it look like a forest fire was raging behind them with yells of battle cries.

Roman looked up, he wanted to fly because it would be faster and easier to get away but the branches wouldn't clear up and he needed a clearing, or he would be smacking and possibly tangling his wings. Not only that but the Vikings could have arrows (Roman wasn't sure because he had to hurry and run).

He couldn't start a fire with his dragon breath because then the Vikings would see the glow and smoke and they would have a lock on him.

He felt stranded, stuck, and running out of time.

Roman Empire had his dragon tail trailing behind him and his golden wings tense but folded.

Roman then heard a whistle, it sounded familiar to him. Then it hit him. Literally. The whistle was an arrow. It hit Roman on his back and just missing his left-wing. He yelled in pain, he slowed down to a walk but then started running again. He knew he could take the blow, and he needed to because another arrow whistles and hits him.

He yells again and this worries England as he slows down again but for longer. "Dad?"

Roman pants before responding. Running had tired him. "I'm okay, England."

He continues but he is slower. His blood wasn't gushing but still spilling. The pain was hurting his spine even though it wasn't directly hit by an arrow.

Roman hears another arrow come, but there are four this time. Roman instinctively moves England from his shoulder to his chest and hugs him tight as he braced for the impact.

Only one hit him while the others fell short. Roman is relieved but the pain still bit him.

He accidentally dropped England.

England rolls on the grass with an "Oof." he gets up and sees Roman on his knees and his hands on the cold grass. "Dad?!"

England ran to Roman and hugged his arm.

"I'm okay, England. I can take a hit."

England knew this was true. Roman could take any wound and still do something as if he wasn't hurt before receiving care, but it didn't change the fact that he still felt the pain and it hurt England to see him like that.

"Come on," Roman said quietly. He picked up England and he was still going at a slow pace but England knew that Roman just needed to take a minute to slow his breathing, which would slow his heart, which would slow his blood and bleed less (and breathing slow helps with his pain).
