"Hey!" I was excited to see him. It was a refreshing feeling to be around him. He always made me feel not half as bad as I did.

"Hi!" He replied, extending the I.

"How was hanging out with Louis?"
I sat down in his desk chair to pay better attention and he smiled. "It was pretty fun. We went to the skatepark, and then we got smoothies where I exchanged numbers with this girl."
He spoke about the girl in a somewhat coy manner. Could he have developed a crush on this girl that he spoke of? He hadn't said anything about her yet but I could tell in his eyes he was thinking about her.
"Wait, hold on!" I held up a quick finger as if to signal I picked up on something. I sort of had. Otherwise if I had been overly tired or, hell, if I was Jayde, I wouldn't have picked up on something as small as that. He wouldn't have taken the time to stop me either.
"You got a girl's number?" I came off as shocked.

"Yeah.." He answered, a smile starting to tug at the corners of his mouth.

"What's her name?" I was set into it. I wanted to know about this girl who would give my brother good dreams that night, because his head would be at peace. He's the type that deserves to be loved. He doesn't stare at women and think
"Looks like a quick fuck."
He's the type that will look at them and think
"How can I get her to smile with her teeth? How can I get her to recognize that she's the loveliest person in this room?"
He's a great kid. His smile was turned all the way up as he responded with her name. "Cylia."

"Wow, I love that name. I'm sure she's lovely and I would love to hear all about her sometime."
I tried my best to offer support. It was a nice feeling knowing you had someone behind you and your choices.

"For sure! How was studying with Miles?"
He wiggled his eyebrows.

"Fine."

"Just fine?"
He made sure to ask, clearly not buying it. He bounced on the end of his bed and sat criss-crossed.
"Did anything interesting happen, did you feel the electricity? You guys couldn't have just studied the whole time."
He'd been desperate to know the full details. He tried to shake something out of me. I hadn't even felt bad about what had actually happened earlier that night. At least not right that second. What I felt the worst about in that moment was that there wasn't any exciting stories to share with him. Sure I could've made something up but what was the point in that?

"Electricity? You're a weirdo, Jo." I laughed my way around the tough question. I figured I'd give him a tidbit of truth.
"We played truth or dare but-"
I got cut off by Joey's dramatic gasp.
"-But! Nothing interesting came out of it, just a bunch of truths."
I finished.

He whined and threw his head back.
"God! Why do the 'but's' always have to ruin everything?"

"I'm not sure why." I yawned.
I stood up, pushed in his chair and went on over to his door. "Anyway, I'm glad you had a good time. I'm gonna go to bed."

"Goodnight!" He got up and wrapped his arms around me, enveloping me into a hug.
I returned his kind embrace and told him goodnight. I headed to my room. The minute I slipped under the covers and found my comfort, I was out for the night.
