Meela was surprised to find Kane on her doorstep. She was expecting anyone but him to deliver her dress. This man looked so handsome. Something about him had attracted her so much.
Meela's life at the Isle was very different. It was every bit fun and adventurous. She met handsome men, she met fighters and she even romanced them. She had her fair share of what things behind the bedroom would be like. But still, she never found anyone that made her forget Kane.
This was why.
With Kane, she was completely vulnerable. Whenever she saw him, she felt like she was stuck under a spell. Kane Black had her completely wrapped around his finger and he didn't know that.
'The um..the King..' he mumbled, lost for words.
'Fuck,' he groaned, getting annoyed with himself.
'Just wear this for the feast!' He roughly handed her the dress. She takes it but kept her eyes on him.
The moment his hands touched hers, she felt a strong spark course through her fingers. Her breathing became erratic but she kept her composure.
'Would you like to come in?' She managed to choke the words out of her.
'A maiden shouldn't be seen inside her chambers with a man, girl. Wear this dress, I'll be waiting to escort you to the hall.' He tells her and grunts something inaudible under his breath before leaving.
Meela watched him leave and closes the door.
The door of her chambers sprang wide open and she snapped her head to look at who it was. She was angry at the sudden intrusion assuming it was Kane. But when she realized it was a little girl, she calmed herself.
She could recognize the blue eyes and brown hair anywhere. Only the Wolfes had that trait. This girl was Rhea Wolfe. She was only 2 when Meela left for the Isle. She never knew the girl.
'You're Meela?!' She exclaimed and Meela nods.
'God they wouldn't shut up about you. I've been hearing Meela this Meela that for my entire life! They told me you went to the Isle of Warriors. What was it like? Was it fun? Did they train your senses by blindfolding you and making you fight? Did they teach you archery? Did they teach you war tactics?' The girl was rambling, asking her question after question. Rhea was a little too excited and so curious.
She was tall and lean like Meela. Her eyes held such excitement and she was so eager to learn about Meela's journey.
'Yes, I did. It wasn't fun, but I get to beat up lots of men. Yes, they did, and yes and yes.'
'I wish I could go there too! I want it. But they never let me. Father and Mother want to get me married to some lord the moment I come of age. How exciting is that?' Her tone was laced with sarcasm and it made Meela chuckle. The Princess of Cagred was intelligent.
'You could talk to them!' Rhea suggested and Meela chuckled.
'I don't think they will wed you that soon, girl. You still have time.' Meela asserts to give Rhea some relief.
'You really think so?'
Meela only nods to reassure the little girl.
'Well, I guess you are right, besides they must be busy finding you a groom first. You should start getting ready. Maybe they will be too busy with you and forget I exist. That should save me some time. I'll see you at the feast, cousin,' she cheered, finding her way out of Meela's room.
Meela was speechless.
A groom for her?
She bit her lips, not knowing what to do. It wasn't her decision at all, it was her uncle's and she had far too much respect for him to refuse his wishes. He was the one who took her in, who provided her with a life she wanted. He gave her the freedom to go for what she wanted. After all that, she couldn't say no to her uncle.
