'To what do I owe the pleasure, milord?' The witch, Luna had a smug on her face. She held her head high and proud.
'You met with her?' Victor's voice was low, but every bit of anger was evident in his voice. His entire stance was tense and one didn't need magic to sense that.
'She needed to know,' the witch's response only agitated him.
'She needed to know,' he scoffed as he repeated her words, staring at her.
'Enlighten me, Luna. What possible reason could it be to tell a woman that her family is going to be murdered?!' Victor raised his voice.
'She deserves to know the truth, you and I both know that. She needs to prepare herself-'
'She doesn't need the child,' Victor interrupts her. The witch paused, her eyes were on the agitated lord the whole time.
'That is not up to you, milord-'
'I am not going to let her go through that. She is not going to lose the child and fight like-'
'She will survive this-'
'No, she won't-'
'Don't meddle with things you are not supposed to, milord. Horrible things happen to those who defy the laws of nature.' Luna's voice was sharp and cold. It was intimidating enough to silence him. She then sighed, realizing she came on too strong.
'Meela is stronger than she lets on. Don't worry, she will survive this,' she tries convincing him.
'Survive? That is not enough! I don't want her alive just for the sake of living.' Victor snaps at her.
'I want her to be cheerful, I want her to smile, I don't want to see her all lifeless. I can't bear to watch that!'
He knew what was going to happen. He knew what Meela would have to go through that night.
It was going to be spine-chillingly abhorrent. He shivered, unable to even imagine his wife going through all that. He cannot just stand there and watch it happen. He must do something.
'Life isn't fair, milord. You of all people should know that. She is meant to suffer a great deal of pain and horrors, it is-'
'Fate. I know!' He barks, interrupting the witch.
'Why did you call me here, milord? We both know complaining about what the future holds isn't why you summoned me here tonight, so what do you wish to ask me?'
'The baby. It will slow her down wouldn't it?'
'Yes, its entire purpose is to maim her, not to walk this earth-'
'Then kill the baby.'
Victor's tone was stern. He knew this was wrong, he was being cruel, merciless even. This wasn't him at all. But this was for her. He was doing this for her.
'She doesn't need to lose it when it happens, kill it now. That way she can fight when she needs to. I don't want the baby slowing her down,' he had made his mind.
Luna kept her eyes on him, shaking her head. She suggested that to Meela only a while ago and here her husband was, requesting the same thing.
