'People of Cadred, you're here to witness the execution of those charged with the kidnapping of Princess Rhea of Cadred. Let this be a lesson to all those oath breakers and criminals out there. By the orders of King Roland Wolfe, I hereby sentence you both to death. Any last words?' The executioner barked.None dared to utter a word. The King was on the top castle tower, spectating everything.
The commoners were outside the castle, the place they all gathered. Meela and her brothers were infront of the commoners, watching it too.
The two kidnappers, to everyone's astonishment, were just smiling.
'We are free.' The one who was caught in the woods says, dropping his head on the block, awaiting his punishment.
Meela was angry. They tried taking her cousin. They tried selling Rhea to a witch. They deserved no forgiveness for partaking in this. But seeing how easily they surrendered to their fate as they are now free made her feel sad.
They were better off dead than live another day as slaves.
The beheading happened quickly, but it didn't disturb Meela as much as the King's words did when they arrived in Cagred.
....'A witch?' The King questioned them.
'That's what the slave said.' Reagan answers, looking at Meela before choosing to stay silent.
Meela pleaded her brothers from telling the King about her visions. She didn't want him or her father hearing that.
'We need to find her. Do you know anything about this, father? Who the witch might be?' Ronan asked.
Strangely, the King turned to his brother and they both just glanced at each other. It was very weird.
'It's fine, son. Sir Roger and I will handle it from here. You must be tired. Get some rest and visit Rhea, she's been asking for you.'
'But father-' Reagan tried reasoning but the King quickly interrupts him.
'You are dismissed. Rest well.'
Meela was confused. Why did the King avoid the subject. Didn't he want to know about the witch? He seemed too calm for a man who just discovered that a weird seer was connected to his daughter's kidnapping. Maybe he did know something? Or was he afraid?
......
A loud smack was heard.
'Is it so hard to follow one small task? Why are you so stupid!??' A low mumble was heard.'Forgive me, mother,' Ravenna was crying, unable to even look at her mother. Lady Theodora glared at her. She was furious about something.
Meela was walking down the hallway, heading to her chambers when she heard it. She turned to see what it was when she saw them.
Lady Thea was scolding her daughter.
Lady Ravenna was looking at the floor, her hand was on her face. Her mother must have slapped her.Meela couldn't hear more than a mumble because they were at a distance. The ladies quickly noticed that they were being watched and turned to look at the Lady in the hallway.
Seeing Meela, they quickly ended their conversation, dispersing. Lady Ravenna stayed behind while Lady Thea left, flashing a sly smile at Meela as she passed by her and disappeared.
Lady Ravenna too followed, but she stopped when she was in front of Meela. Meela observed the timid girl.
'Do you want to -' she started talking but Ravenna interrupts her.
'No. I don't want you talking about my mother to me. She loves me and sometimes she's just angry. Doesn't mean she loves me any less.'
Meela stays quiet, letting the girl release her pent-up anger.
