Chapter 5 - Regret and Promotion

Just a brief recap on things
It has been 6 months since Naruto left the team. Jiraya has just returned to watch the match.

KIA, Killed in Action. The stone was marked with names Kakashi Hatake had once called family. His Sensei, his friends, his team-mates and his parents too. So many had passed away, leaving Kakashi behind only to be be tortured with nightmares and loneliness. He would have gladly given his life for any of them, but deep down he buried his emotions for that was the way of a shinobi. But not the way of a civilian. He was briefly happy when he was with Rin and Obito and his sensei, for they made him feel alive.

It had been so many years since their death. Kakashi still wasn't able to get out of it, and came to the stone everyday in the evening,  recounting his day's work and missions, hoping out they were out there somewhere listening. But not today. His body raked with guilt as he stood silent, just gazing at the stone as he remembered the day.

----------- FLASHBACK ----------

Kakashi was waiting with Tsunade, Shizune and Jiraya and surprisingly Danzo Shimura in training ground 44, along with the other teams and their sensei. He was informed about the bet Tsunade and Naruto had placed earlier this week. He himself was pleased as it was sure he wasn't going to lose to his ex-student. He thought of this as an opportunity to calls Naruto back on his team, and was hoping that Tsunade-sama was consider his placement back. Sakura too was happy as she knew Naruto could not defeat Kakashi sensei, and thus would return. 

Naruto soon shunshined himself in front of the four. All except Tsunade and Shizune were left shocked as they saw a transformed Naruto. Gray full sleeve tshirt, rolled up to cover three-fourth of his arms, along with his chunnin vest and black anbu pants, all the baby fat gone replaced with muscles that were clearly visible. He was having a tattoo on his wrist, while having a pouch on his back and night black sword on his back. He sure was a sight for the girls as it was clearly seen that Ino was drooling shamelessly over him, along with a blushing Sakura and Hinata, while checking him out.

"Well since both the contenders are here, can we please start the match?" ,asked Tsunade as she herself decided to be the head of the match. A nod was recieved from both as Naruto released all his weight seals while Kakashi brought out his Icha-Icha book to read. A low growl erupted from Tsunade, as it was evident that Kakashi was underestimating Naruto just as he once did. Both proceeded to go to the side of the field. As everyone took their positions, Tsunade dropped his hand, motioning the match to start.

Naruto flung a couple of kunai in Kakashi's way, that were easily deflected by him. He turned to face Naruto again as he saw fists of two clones flying in his direction. He quickly countered but was pushed back due to sheer amount of force from the wrists. He put away his book and countered while blocking and dodging. He again was met with a quick heavy flow of punches that were delivered from a stance he had long forgotten. The sheer force of the jabs were pushing Kakashi back. Reluctantly he pulled out two kunais as he saw Naruto draw his blade. A fierce fight occurred between an ex-student and his sensei, both giving the proof of being masters in the fields they were sparring with. 

Naruto saw an opening and while quickly digging his sword on the ground, he gave Kakashi a one sided kick to the chest, with so much force that Kakashi figured he might have cracked a rib or two. Naruto quickly created three handsigns of ox-boar-tiger whispering 'Suiton : Suiryudan no Jutsu' as a water dragon was formed from the water he was storing in the seal. It quickly raced to Kakashi, who putting his on the ground yelled, "Doton - Doryou Heki " as a mud wall was raised to block the oncoming projectile.
