2.ALL I KNEW WAS A LIE

"Dalton" I said in shock. I'm not surprised I was sure that was his car parked outside but what is getting me marveled is his appearance here, he should be in the military not here.

"You came earlier than expected" I said as  taking what bought from the gocrey store to the kitchen.

"It not that.. ", Dalton begins, "oh yes dear he came earlier than expected'' mother interrupted him as he was about to give his reply, I look at my mum with wary.

"Oh why would they allow you back home when you just came visiting not quite long in NYC" I said arranging what I bought in their respective cabinet.

"Huh.... Aren't you happy seeing me here" he said stalling his reply. I'm happy his is here and that is what matters now, I guess I won't have to worry about him getting killed till he goes back.

" yes of course I'm happy you are here, , your visit was just sudden" I said putting the last item into the cabinet.

"Where is Paulina"? I ask mother holding the chocolate I bought for her.

"She is still in her room with Helen" she replied. I left the kitchen and head to Paulina room, as I turned I heard mother telling Dalton something like 'that was close I don't want her finding out this soon' I wasn't sure so I decide not to pay attention.

"I haven't seen my little goddess in forever" I said stepping into Paulina room. Upon seeing me in her room she dropped her stuffed wolf toy which she was playing with and run towards me.

"Bree" she said wrapping her chubby arm round my legs.

"Bree you see dada. He came to see me again" she look up at me with excitement clouding her eyes. She took my hand and dragged me back to the sitting room, where I'm coming from to see her dad again. She take no for an answer.

"Mum we can't keep hiding everything from her, she will be 18 few month from now and will realize her life was a lie". I heard Dalton telling my mom as I and lina reached the edge of the sitting room.I stopped in my track, were they talking about me. I mean I've been hearing bit and piece of their conversation, why should I be in doubt, so I decided to ask.

"Whose life is a lie"? I asked interuptting their conversation. I think my grand entrance was ruined because I was tugged by lina to move forward.

"Dada, see Bree I bought her to see you". She said leaving my hands and going to her father's embrace who in return picked her up and place her on his laps.

"I already met her sweetheart" he said peaking her forehead resulting to her giggling.

"Why don't you go to your mum" he said kissing her cheek.

"Ok dada" she said jumping down from his lap and running back to the direction of her room. He sighed deeply looking at his daughter as she race off before he turned his attention back in my direction. I stood with my arm cross waiting for reply to the last question.

"Is someone going to answer me" I said seeing non of them saying anything and mum was avoiding my eyes. That was when I knew something is wrong and the she in their conversation is me. Different thought flood my mind, what are they lying about, why would  my mother be avoiding my eyes. Moreover I didn't forget the question she asked Dalton, about why his father isn't here.

"Bree come and sit here" my brother said patting the space beside him, I look at him skeptical but went ahead and sit next to him.

"You know we love you" he said looking at me. I mentally roll me eyes, I mean why is he beating about the bush, he know I love them all and they also love me. Instead of saying this out I look back at him with scowl.
