The Tell

Elaine, Lydia, and Jackson were all sat inside of Lydia's Volkswagen. Elaine didn't exactly want to be there, she'd rather be at home then have to third wheel with Jackson and Lydia, though half of the time it was really Jackson who was third wheeling. Ellie sat in the cramped back seat, arguing with Jackson over what to watch. Of course, she was siding with Lydia. The Notebook was the only obvious choice.

"Hoosiers is not only the best basketball movie ever, it is the best sports movie ever made," Jackson explained, glaring at Lydia in the drivers seat. Lydia pulled into a parking space outside the DVD rental store.

"No," Lydia and Ellie replied.

"It's got Gene Hackman and Dennis Hopper," Jackson tried, pleading with the girls to just pick his movie.

"No," Lydia repeated.

"Was that supposed to convince us to pick your movie?" Elaine asked, quirking a brow.

"I swear to God, you're gonna like it."

"No," they repeated in unison.

"I am not watching The Noteboon again," Jackson huffed. Lydia and Elaine looked at him, eyebrows raised. He let out a grunt, pushing open the door and walking into the store.

"He's definitely going to get The Notebook," Lydia hummed.

Elaine nodded in agreement. "If he doesn't, I'm chopping his balls off. I'm not watching some basketball movie over The Notebook."

"Agreed."

"I'm not sitting back here another second," Elaine muttered, climbing into the front seat. She nearly whacked Lydia in the head about three times as she did so. She eventually made it to the front, shifting around so she was comfortable. "I hate sitting back there. Your boyfriend is going to have to suck it up and take that seat when he gets back, I refuse to."

"Fine with me," Lydia hummed, fixing her lip gloss as she stared into the mirror on the visor. She then pulled out her phone, snapping a couple selfies. After taking two by herself, she pulled Ellie into them as well. Lydia grabbed Elaines phone, snapping a few on there next. They took a couple before something came smashing through the front window of the store.

A large animal, more like beast, jumped through the window and landed a few feet away from Lydia's car. It was covered in fur, eyes that were bright red. It had razor sharp claws and fangs, ones that had definitely killed at least one person before. As soon as they heard the glass shatter, Elaine and Lydia were looking out the window to Lydia's left.

Screams of terror left their lungs, eyes wide in fear as they spotted the animal. Elaine gripped Lydia's arm tightly, the strawberry blonde doing the same with Elaine. Their hearts were racing, eyes wide in shock and fear, and they were breathing heavily as their eyes remained stuck on the window even after the thing had ran away.

Shortly after, the scene was illuminated in blue and red flashing lights. The two girls sat on the back of an ambulance, blankets wrapped around each of them. The girls were gripping the others hand tightly, their body's shaking with fear. Elaine stared down at the ground, blinking every couple of seconds. She was in shock, scared out of her mind over what had just happened. What the hell even did just happen? Jackson stood next to them, trying to get them out of there so that they could go home.
