Lunatic
Jennifer slowly closed the front door after Laila, processing the information her daughter had just told her. Unwillingly, Laila had spilled everything. She was so sure her mom would just call her crazy, she was preparing to be sent to Eichen House after everything she just told her. Laila's fingers flew over the keyboard of her phone rapidly as she wrote out a text to Scott and Stiles, explaining she had told her mom and she was sorry.
"Scott was bit by an Alpha?" Jennifer clarified, hanging her coat in the closet. Laila nodded, shoving her phone in her pocket. Jennifer sighed, running a hand through her hair. "And said Alpha chased you all night through the school?"
"Yes."
"Scott McCall, your best friend since you were six, is a werewolf?"
"Yes."
"And this Alpha wants him in his pack, and wants him to kill you, Stiles, and Elaine and her friends?"
"Yes."
Jennifer went silent. She stared blankly at her daughter, not knowing how to respond. She shook her head lightly, running a hand over her face. "Why didn't you tell me any of this sooner?"
Laila's jaw dropped in shock, her eyes widening and nearly popping out of their socks. Mama say what?
"W- what? I didn't know I was supposed to?"
"Honey, there is a lot you don't know yet."
A couple of days later, Laila found herself trekking through the woods behind Scott and Stiles. The sky was dark, the moon glowing above the trio as they walked. Laila cringed when she felt herself step into a puddle, the water immediately soaking through her vans. She should have prepared for this, worn a different pair of shoes.
"Where are we going?" Scott asked, looking around curiously as he follow behind Stiles.
"You'll see," Stiles answered.
"We really shouldn't be out here, my mom is in a constant state of freak out since what happened at the school," Scott told them.
"Well, your mom isn't the sheriff, okay?" Stiles replied with a light shake of his head. "There's no comparison, trust me."
"Can you at least just tell us what we're doing out here?" Laila asked, diverting the conversation away from their parents. It was the last thing she wanted to talk about right now.
"Yes," Stiles answered, "when your best friend gets dumped-"
"I didn't get dumped," Scott interjected, defending himself.
Laila scoffed. "You most certainly did."
"No, we're taking a break."
Stiles shook his head. "Well, when your best friend gets told by his girlfriend that they're taking a break..." he trailed off, turning to face the two following behind him. He grinned, holding up a bottle of Jack Daniels. "You get your best friend drunk."
An hour later, Stiles, Scott, and Laila were seated around each other in a clearing in the woods. Stiles was laid out on the ground, head propped up on a rock. Laila was laid beside him, hands folded over her stomach as she stared dreamily at the stars. Scott had resorted to sitting up on a rock behind the two, not at all feeling the effects from the alcohol - which had been nearly gone by now. There was a barrel a few feet away from them, a fire lit inside to keep the area somewhat lit for them to see each other, and to keep them warm.
