You smiled happily when you finally got the perfect look for your date. But it wasn't any date. It was the anniversary of Calum and you.

It was your 2nd year of being together and you wanted it to be a little bit more mature than last year, even if it was fun.

Last year you guys went to an arcade and played games all day, to eat, you guys had ordered pizza, and spent your night playing video games.

Although he kissed you between levels it wasn't as romantic as you pictures it this year. You wanted at least a romantic dinner and flowers.

That was what you wanted.

You ran downstairs as you saw the time turn 6:00 pm. Calum had promised you he would be outside your doorstep at exactly 6:00 o'clock.

You grinned as you opened the door expecting him either coming up your drive way, or standing outside your door about to knock.

But your smile fell when nothing was outside, not his car, not him. Your moms car was in the drive way but not Calum or his car.

You bit your lip, maybe he got all the red lights, or maybe his car broke. You bit your lip and decided to wait at your doorstep.

After what seemed hours you reached for your phone and saw it had been 20 minutes.

20 minutes since he promise to come, a smile on his face, flowers in hand.

You almost smiled picturing him walking up your house lawn with his usual black jeans, his favorite band t-shirt, because the fanciest thing he owned, he would tell you. You pictures his frown but then turning into a smile when his arms wrapped around your waist.

But you didn't because he wasn't there. His goof grin wasn't near, and it pierce your heart because he broke a scared promise.

You decided to call him but hi phone only rang, his deep voice never coming to answer it.

You sighed and mustered a weak smile.

Maybe he was having a bad day, maybe he dropped his phone in the sink.

You stood up remembering he had told you he planned to take you to Paradise, a nice little diner next to the beach.

One you had grown up going to, especially since your uncle owned it.

You turned back inside calling your mom, "Mom, can I take to the car, Calum's broke!" you lied.

Well maybe you weren't. Maybe it did happen. You didn't hear a response but instead got your mom downstairs.

She stood on the steps of your staircase and looked at you I'm concern.

She nodded, her eyes fixated in you. "Yeah." you lied again. Your mom slowly nodded.

"Okay," she walked downstairs and kissed your forehead, "Remember you have to be here before 11."

You grinned before nodding, "Yes I know mom, love you." you gave her a quick hug before getting the keys from the kitchen.

You quickly drove to the diner and got butterflies in your stomach. The same you always got when Calum held you in his arms, the same that he created with just one stare of his.

You walked in looking for his blonde streak but not finding it. "Hey Y/N." your heart fell when it was your uncle calling your name.

"Hey." you waved. "By any chance has Calum come by?" I asked.

He rolled his eyes smiling. "I'm doing great, thanks for asking." You blushed.

"Sorry," you smiled.

"Ah young love." he chuckled. "Anyways, yeah he did." you felt your smile grow.

"He came around noon to get something to-go." You but your lip. Maybe he got caught up arranging your date.

You thanked your uncle and quickly ran to the car. You called Calum.

"Hey babe." He answered. "Sorry I couldn't answer I was at Michael's."

Maybe Michael helped him?

"What for?" You asked as natural as possible, even of your heart started beating and start to put the puzzle pieces together.

"Just a small gathering with the boys, you know video games and stuff." You could hear his smile and all your hopes vanished.

"Stop it!" He chuckled and you could hear Ashton's laugh through the phone.

"Are you having fun?" You didn't try hiding your anger anymore.

"What?" he sounded genially confused and you believed it. He was.

"I hope you enjoy our anniversary with your friends." You hung up with a tear already on your cheek.

You started the car with a broken heart and all the way back, your phone went off over and over. You decided to turn it off.

As you came home you forced yourself to stop crying and took deep breathes over and over. Trying to pretend like you never cried. As if Calum hadn't just forgotten about you and your date.

It wasn't really about forgetting your anniversary, it was more how he forgot his promise. About you.

As if two years together should change the things he should and shouldn't forget about you, or just you in general.

As you sat in the car you tried to comprehend, tried understanding why he did it. But you couldn't.

He had forgotten a special day. A promise.

Just as you were getting out the car, after checking many times to make your mom believe you weren't crying, you heard your name being called.

You froze watching Calum exasperated and walking towards you. Sweat covering his forehead.

"A little late don't you think?" You didn't even recognize your own cold tone.

"Y/N, I'm so sorry." He gasped, trying to catch his breath. You still didn't know why he was so sweaty.

"It's okay." You shrugged after a while of debating. Why was the point?

"Really?" He asked walking towards you.

"Yeah," you nodded but backed away. He frowned. "I need some time alone Calum." you whispered.

"No, you don't." Calum said, his eyes widening.

"You kind of broke my trust Calum." You whispered.

"No Y/N!" He said louder. You ignored him and walked away.
