Chapter 6 - Burdens Out

Previously on OWH, our boys met up with their friend Robert and decided to head to Miami Beach, for the sake of testing their cars and also having a good time, but Chris may be having some troubles coping with the past. We'll take it from there!

April 20th, 2021

Miami Beach, FL - 2:45 PM

The trio finally arrived at Miami Beach. In that clear sunny Saturday, the streets were full, including a lot of tourists. Unnecessary to say, their cars were drawing some serious attention, just like at Homestead, with several bystanders pulling out their phones to take pictures and film the cars. Robert's F-250, despite not being as flashy as the Chargers, was still a nice view, given its mint-condition looks...and, of course, the 8-71 blower rising over the hood. Good thing he also had a Walkie-Talkie to talk to the boys with.

N: "Wow! Who knew our cars could get so much attention? I mean look, there's a Lamborghini Aventador S over there, along with a Ferrari 812 Superfast! Goes to show that these old muscle cars still have tons of charisma!", Said while looking at the pedestrians snap photos and give a thumbs up.

R: "Everybody loves a classic! Screw dem haters who always prefer the latest an' greatest shit bag!!"

C: "It's not like all new cars are bad. Sure, they lack the charisma of older ones, but still..."

R: "Naaah, I ain't getting a brand-new plastic toy out of a cereal box, not ever!"

N: "I don't know, Robert...the Hellcat is already a bit old, but still pretty new compared to our Charger's, and still a badass car; the Viper's amazing too. Speak of the devil...no pun intended.", Pointed to a Dodge Demon driving by on the lane next to them.

C: "Red...cool, but not my taste. I'd rather have it in another color."

N: "I'd take a Demon in black like Lexxy here or perhaps even B5 blue! Still is a nice car though, but Lexxy here...she's just perfect."

As the trio kept on driving, the light up ahead turned red and a Miami-Dade Police Department Dodge Charger pulled up next to them. The Officer then lowered his passenger side window.

Officer: "Hey you! Yeah you two in the muscle cars, try and refrain from making so much noise. People are trying to enjoy themselves. I know you're having fun and trying to show off but take it easy!"

N: "Sorry about that, Officer...the exhaust system on this car is 100% legal though.."

C: "Yeah, they're even catted to run California-clean!"

Officer: "Right...well, at least these cars sound good! Not as obnoxious as those Lamborghini's spitting flames from their exhausts and scaring the crap outta people...have a nice day, boys!", Rolled up his passenger side window and turned at the intersection once the light turned green.

R: "Cool cop, that's rare.", Chuckled.

C: "It's not like being a cop makes all of them bad people, but we get the point."

N: "Yeah, there are cool cops out there, not every one of them is a pig.", Chuckled.

The trio continued cruising along the beach and during the drive Nathan let out a deep sigh as he watched a few very happy couples walk by.

N: "Man...it's nice to see people happy, but I wish things wouldn't have gone the way they did with Marie...", Said before Lexxy's radio randomly turned on and 'Let's stay together' by Al Green began playing. "Oh no...looks like the radio WASN'T fixed!"

C: "Well, she always throws good songs, so why not live with it?", Laughed.

N: "You know what? I think I'll do, 'cause it's kinda like Lexxy has a soul...although she's not a possessed psycho mobile like Christine, or so I hope!", Laughed nervously.
