Chapter 9 - We're leaving...finally!

Previously on OWH, Chris met Emma, a waitress who was a succubus. After a date, they had a loving moment together, but before anything serious could even start, Emma basically cut him short. Now, Chris's pretty much done with finding someone. Will he stay single? Will he be able to focus on other things? We'll take it from there!

April 22nd, 2021

Homestead, FL - 3:45 AM

Chris woke up earlier than the alarm; in fact, he hasn't slept well at all since the previous day, when him and Emma broke up before even starting a relationship. He took a bath, put on some simple clothes, a white T-shirt, some basic jeans and sneakers, and went downstairs for breakfast. Looking through the window, the sky was still pretty much pitch black. While he was eating, he heard someone coming from upstairs; it was Lucy.

L: "Chris?", Yawned. "Why are you awake? It's not even 4 AM."

C: "Morning, Lucy. Have you forgotten? Today's the day I'm leaving for the trip. I didn't want to leave without saying goodbye, but I was afraid of waking up mom and dad so early."

L: "Well, about that..."

Right behind Lucy, William and Patricia showed up, in their pajamas.

W: "Don't worry, we can always go back to sleep!", Chuckled. "We wouldn't want to miss our son's departure, after all.", Gave him a strong handshake, followed by a hug. "I hope you have lots of fun, Chris. Just be careful out there, okay?", Messed with Chris' hair, much to his chagrin.

C: "Dad!", Chuckled. "Thanks. I love you all very much."

Now it was the time for his mother to hug and give him a kiss in the forehead, crying a little.

P: "Don't forget to keep in touch, alright?"

C: "I promise to call you guys as often as I can, rest assured."

L: "And don't forget the pictures, silly! We wanna see where you've been!", His sister gave him a small punch in his arm, then hugged him as well. "I'll take care of dad and mom, and you go enjoy the trip. Also, try not to focus on girls, give some time to yourself.", Gave him a kiss in the cheek, to which he jumped back embarrassed; she loved doing this to him ever since they were kids. "Alright?"

C: "*sighs* I'll try my best...specially after yesterday, for God's sake I don't wanna think about that for a long time!"

L: "Good. Stay safe, little bro."

C: "Thanks, sis. You too.", Smiled.

William & Patricia: "Have a nice trip, son...we love you."

Chris finished his breakfast and brushed his teeth. He had already put his bags on Cisco's backseat, along with a lot of spare parts in the trunk; all he needed was to fill the tank. He had already informed Robert and Nathan they'd be meeting at the same gas station from before.
Having said goodbye to his family, Chris started Cisco and drove away, to the beginning of a great adventure.

4:30 AM

Chris arrived at the gas station and realized Robert was already there, chewing a piece of grass!. He had some bags in the passenger' seats and a few other in the truck bed.

C: "Hey Rob! When did you get here?"

R: "Howdy Chris, 'bout 20 minutes ago! Got the last car delivered to the customer on Saturday, so the garage's empty now. Already left a warning at the door, informing that I'll be away fo' a while, heheheh...", Chuckled as he threw the piece of grass away.
