Chapter 20 - Onwards to AODHA! Part 2

Continuing from previous chapter, our boys headed towards Los Angeles, CA, in hopes of reaching AODHA's US branch headquarters. Will they make it? We'll take it from there!

Green River, UT - 1:12 PM

After some time, they finally reached the State of Utah, arriving at the city of Green River. The landscape was greatly different now, very deserted, and with the famous mountains to be seen in the distance.

C: "Wow...seeing these views on pictures is one thing, but live is a totally different story!"

N: "Hey Clara, have you ever been to Moab?"

CL: "Once, to test Lucy's suspension."

R: "Oh Nate, dun't tell us ye're plannin' to take a shortcut thru der!"

C: "Of course not, doofus; our vehicles are not off-road capable...and even Gertrude wouldn't stand a chance against some of those rocks.", Laughed.

R: "Humph...Gert can do just fine!", Pouted.

C: "Sure she does. But Moab is known for being a tough test even for rock-crawling prototypes."

CL: "Gertrude is gonna need a lot of work, honey. Even Lucy here had some issues at Moab. That's why I used the location along with Baja as my testing and tuning grounds."

R: "I know, I'm just messin' with y'all!", Laughed. "Gert's all stock, apart from the 8-71 blower an' the couple o' Holley carbs. Even the tranny's untouched! I'd need to pretty much rebuild 'er from ground up...as a matter o' fact, I might do dat in the future, 'cause judgin' by yer line o' work, she'll need dat."

C: "True that, my friend. Our Charger's are not off-road vehicles, but if they can get by around the streets, despite being 50+ years old, I'll be glad."

N: "I might convert to coil overs at some point. I hear that it really wakes these cars up... I'm talking modern car handling."

CL: "It's possible. The Boss 302 is widely touted as one of the best handling Mustangs ever produced. Even though it came out ten years ago."

R: "Dats a Ford fo' ye!", Smug face.

C: "Ford really outdid themselves with that car. Aiming for the big guns, M3 and the like? Sheesh...compared to them, the 'Stang is just a low-cost...well, sort of...low-cost sports car with a jurassic live axle that beat the crap outta them on the track...I'd tip my fedora to them, if I had one...even Stellantis hasn't managed to achieve that with the Challenger. I'm talking about track-focused handling, of course."

N: "Stellantis needs to get their shit together, I admit...", Sighed.

CL: "My mom is a big time Ford girl, like I said before. She actually talked about getting a Mustang for Lena and swapping a Powerstroke into it as a family project."

R: "Nuuuuuuuh, ye're gunna ruin a perfectly balanced sports car!", Pretended to cry.

C: "Hey, you should be happy...Powerstroke's are used by Ford itself, and they're still V8's!", Laughed.

Still following through I-70 W, the boys once again needed to refuel.

C: "So, Clara. I know your Humvee still had half tank of fuel, but we gotta refuel...such are the prices for driving a big and modded Hemi V8...", Sighed as he checked the gauge, already less than 1/4 left.
