Chapter 11 - Friends, help, hope!

Previously on OWH, our boys began their road trip accross USA. Chris has decided to join AODHA, the agency that helps demi-humans, when they arrive at California. But before that, he called a number hidden in the piece of paper with the agency's address that Emma gave him, and set up a meeting with one of AODHA's agents that will be heading to Denver soon. On their way there, the trio found a Demi father with his two kids, who were seeking for help. Reluctantly, the father accepted Chris' offer to take them to Denver with them, but what will happen until they reach their destination? We'll take it from there!

April 23rd, 2021

DeFuniak Springs, FL - 10:23 AM

Having picked up Jurgen and his children Francis and Cristina, the group were on the way to Pensacola. The new trio of friends joined Chris aboard Cisco, while Nathan and Robert were in charge of carrying Cisco's spare parts, tools, etc. It's been about half hour since they left Love's Travel Stop and Chris wanted to break the ice a little, so he tried to start some conversation.

C: "So, Jurgen...tell me more about you and your family. Where are you from?"

J: "We're from Horten, Norway."

C: "Nice, that's a beautiful country! But wait...if memory serves me right, Norway is one of the sanctuary nations, isn't it? Why did you come here?"

J: "I-I'm trying to find my wife. She came here last month and I haven't heard from her since two weeks ago.", Sighed. "I promised Francis and Cristina I'd reunite them with their mother."

C: "Damn...I'm really sorry about this, man. Have you gotten any clues yet? The place where she'd be staying, the reason for her visitation, etc?"

J: "My wife was given a business opportunity and she took it. It required her to relocate to Miami, Florida. A few days later she called, saying the job was actually at Little Rock, Arkansas, and promised she'd call again when everything was settled in for us to come. Two weeks passed and no phone call at all. I began to grow suspicious and then, after digging on the internet, I've come to learn about the disappearances...then I tried to contact AODHA."

C: "And no response from them?"

J: "They said they were investigating, but there are too many similar reports and they struggle to solve so many of them."

C: "Sheesh...I guess they may be too small of an agency around here to deal with so many cases..."

J: "Perhaps. After this, I came here in hopes of finding her myself."

F: "Papa...do you really think mommy is okay?"

J: "She's out there somewhere, Francis...", Tried to hold the tears.

C: "Don't worry kids, we're gonna find your mother, have faith.", Smiled. "So, I almost forgot...what...what species are you guys?"

Cr: "We're vampires!", Smiled.

C: "V-Vampires?!", Was legit shocked. "That's...nice...", Sweating a lot.

J: "Don't worry, we don't attack humans.", Immediately noticed Chris' fear. "Everyone gets afraid at first, when they find out. But we're basically like you guys, just our canine teeth are a bit sharper, we have a bit of hereditary anemia and our skin dislikes sunlight even more than the Nords themselves."

C: "I see...", Chuckled awkwardly.

Cr: "As our mommy always said, we don't tan, we burn!", Giggled.

C: "That must be terrible, not being able to enjoy the sun and all..."

J: "Not much. Worse than the sun itself is the heat...we're not used to the temperatures here..."
