Chapter 13 - Arrival, reunion, departure!

Previously on OWH, our boys arrived at New Orleans, but had to get out fast because a team of Gamehunters was on their tail. They almost got caught, but Maxx, a Demi asset from AODHA, arrived just in time to save them. Unfortunately, Maxx isn't very friendly, so there was a bit of a tension between him and the group. Now they continue their journey to Little Rock, AR, to reunite Jurgen and his kids with his wife. Will they make it without causing another commotion? We'll take it from there!

April 23rd, 2021

McComb, MS - 9:40 PM

Chris and the group finally arrived at McComb. Everyone was exhausted after the chase around New Orleans, a few hours earlier. Jurgen and the kids were asleep, while Chris was almost blacking out as well. Finally they stopped at another gas station.

C: "Mr. Powell, I think we should rest for the night."

M: "No, we need to keep going."

R: "Listen, sir...we're tired, if we continue drivin', we won't be at our peak performance, an' that means it'll be easier fo' them to capture us!"

N: "We can at least try to make it to our destination, or die tired." Sighed. "Trust me Robert, I want to get some sleep just as much as you."

R: "No, Nate! We can't risk, he said we gotta keep goin', but we're gonna end up crashin' if we black out mid-drivin'!"

C: "Robert's got a point. Please, sir..."

Maxx thought for a second, visibly annoyed; deep down he knew the boys were right and even himself should get some sleep too. Answering simply with a nod, he went to make a phone call, leaving Chris, Robert and Nathan to find a hotel themselves.

C: "Thanks...", He said, even though Maxx didn't listen.

R: "Ye go fetch sum bedrooms while I go fetch the meals.", Instructed Chris and rushed to a nearby market.

N: "Well let's get going then, Christian...before that Maxx guy changes his mind."

C: "Yeah..."

Chris quickly selected a hotel through his phone and made reservations, leaving a room for Jurgen and the kids and another for himself and his friends. He called to Maxx and gestured if he wanted a room, but Maxx just ignored him.

C: "What an asshole...", Thought.

Unwilling to bother with a friendly approach, Chris just went to the hotel with everyone, Maxx following them. He rented a room for himself at the lobby.

10:30 PM

Chris' phone rang, it was his sister. When he picked it up, he almost went deaf.

Lucy: "CHRIS!", Shouted. "Are you okay?! I just saw the news of a gunfight and car chase at New Orleans, Cisco was there along with Lexxy! Is it true?!"

C: "Hey, sis. Well..."

L: "You crazy bastard, what the hell happened?!"

C: "It's a long story, sis-"

L: "Then you better spit up or I'm gonna go over there and kick your ass myself!"

C: "Alright, fine! Calm down, geez!"

L: "How am I supposed to calm down when my little brother is doing some stupidity when he was supposed to be relaxing and having fun?", Tried to hold back the tears. "Dad and mom don't know yet, but if they find out, how do you think they're gonna react?!"
