it was a rainy afternoon, clouds hid the sun and darkend the sky.

the gloomy weather resulted in Aether and Paimon being completely drenched and soaked with water since they were initially out for a delivery.

the food Sara made wasn't really edible anymore and the weather seemed to worsen each passing second.
running around and looking for a shelter, Aether took notice of a big mansion near them.

since it surely would be storming soon, staying in the woods under a tree won't do. the male had no other choice but to go to the house and ask for a place to stay for the night.

he hoped that the owner would be there and even be kind enough to help them.

"ugh! Paimon doesn't like this weather at all. it's so cold!" complained his flying companion. Aether rolled his eyes, already used to her antics and continued his way to the mansion.

the nearer they got, the more familiar did it seem. just now did both travelers notice that it was your house that they were standing in front of.

since it rained heavier than before, Aether and Paimon had no other choice but hope that someone would be inside to help them.

their last visit visibly showed that you barely spend time in your own house and nobody else was there as far as Aether noticed.

the pixie fairy flew to the door and knocked harshly on it, hoping the owner would be inside to help them.
fortunately, luck was on their side and you decided to stay home for the day.

you were reading a book at the fireplace when you heard a knock on the front door. a glance outside told you, it must be someone who was searching for a shelter from the cold rain.

you stood up and opened the door, greeted with harsh wind slapping your face and two freezing but familiar figures outside your house.

upon noticing who it was, you immediately opened the door wider to let both travelers in. without a word you leaded them through the mansion to the fireplace you previously sat at and offered them a seat and blankets.

"i will fetch some spare clothes for you, warm up." you said and disappeared in another room.

Paimon cuddled into a dark red couch with the fuzzy blanket wrapped around her tiny body, similar to her companion only that Aether didn't shake as much as her.

when you returned, you couldn't help but pity the two. the blonde male told you about Paimon's birthday and his surprise but it obviously had to be cancled due to the weather.

your idea was to bake something and give it the little girl later but now since she was here, you could offer her something else.

"Paimon, do you want to help me in the kitchen?" cooking together was always more fun than alone so you decided the fairy would become your co-chef.

excitement sprakled in her adorable eyes and energy blasted through her veins as she heard the word 'kitchen'. kitchen is the room where people cook, so that would mean food for her, right?

the cold was immediately forgotten and she flew through the air in an incredible speed towards the kitchen.

you only chuckled and turned to Aether who still sat on the same spot. "rest a bit. i will take care of Paimon for today."
nodding, the male agreed and closed his eyes to doze off.

before heading to the kitchen, you adjusted the fire a bit to make sure it would keep the now sleeping traveler warm.

her tiny hands were placed on her hips while Paimon impatientely floated around, waiting for you to come.

she was excited to learn a few recipes since it was usually Aether who cooked and never her. spending time with you was just a little bonus since the fairy really enjoyed your company despite only knowing you a bit.

when you finally arrived, you had an apron around your body to protect your clothes and a smaller one in your hands. you brought it once from your travels because you thought it was cute. never came it to your mind that it would come in handy someday.

as soon as Paimon saw the little apron, she exclaimed how excited she was and couldn't thank you enough.

you two stood or floated in the kitchen for a few hours, testing various recipes of cakes, dishes and more.

in the end when you were finally done cooking, both of you were already full and couldn't eat anymore because of the endless testing.

Aether chuckled as he was the only one at the table who ate the delicious food you two made.

"Paimon had a lot of fun today! even if the weather is all gloomy, (y/n) made this day very special" you three sat at the fireplace again.

Aether on his own chair and Paimon on your lap on the couch. after eating you decided to play a few games and settled in the living room. now you just relaxed and talked about whatever came into Paimons mind.

you combed through the fairy's soft white hair while she told you about the adventures both travelers already experienced. it was interesting to say atleast.

you listend intensely as you braided her hair into a different style, never getting tired since it was nice to have some company from time to time.

Paimons stories slowly came to an end and her voice became softer, signalling that she was tired. soon, she completely stopped talking and only small snores were heard.

the pixie fairy fell asleep on your lap while telling you about her and Aethers stories.

a smile formed on your lips and you glanced at the girl on your lap and then to Aether who aswell fell asleep.
truly an adorable sight.

you decided to close your eyes too since a glance at the clock told you that it was late evening already.

but before you drifted off to the land of dreams, you managed to hear Paimons words:

"thank you...like a ...family"
