Chapter 46: I Left My Daughter For This

[Adela was in Katerina's nursery she set Katerina on the floor and was teaching her how to walk. Adela had her arms open while Katerina starts to wadle into Adela's arm]

ADELA: There you go good job Princess. [She stumbles into Adela's arms when Elijah appears in the doorway. Adela picked up Katerina and stood up straight with Katerina in her arms]

ADELA: Not be rude, but what do you want?

ELIJAH: I thought you might like to accompany to investigate an attack against the vampires. [Adela looking unconvinced, Elijah sighed] We might get to kill arrogant vampires. [Adela's face lit up and she put Katerina in her crib and texted Freya asking for her to babysit]

ADELA: Fine I do like our father, daughter murder sprees. [As she turned around and they walked out together]

[Elijah and Adela arrive at Marcel's loft to find all of his vampires still sprawled on the floor. They walk over to Josh, who is laying flat on his back on the floor, his face covered in his own blood from Aya's beatdown earlier, and they give him an amused, albeit patronizing, look]

ELIJAH: Joshua. Would you kindly enlighten use as to what happened here?

[Elijah pulls out his pocket square and drops it on Josh's chest so he can clean himself up. Josh groans in pain and sits up, rubbing his right shoulder as he does so]

JOSH: [groans in pain] Ohhh... God, this woman...

[Elijah walks around the room and takes in the sight of the other vampires, many of whom are still unconscious from having their necks snapped. The furniture in the room has also been trashed as well, likely due to vampires being thrown into it during the fight]

ADELA: What woman?

JOSH: I don't know. She walked in like she owned the place. Said she had to talk to Marcel in private.

[Josh finally rises to his feet and starts to wipe at the blood that has crusted under his nose]

JOSH: We tried to get rid of her, and boom-- Smackdown City. Which obviously went quite well.

[Elijah crouches down when he sees a black business card laying on the floor next to an unconscious vampire. When he picks it up and examines it, it's clear that it is the same card Aya held up to Marcel earlier, with a stylistic looking owl stamped on the front in white ink]

ELIJAH: Did this woman happen to have a name?

JOSH: I don't know.

[Josh thinks about it for a moment until he remembers]

JOSH: Um... Aya?

[Elijah closes his eyes and sighs in recognition of this name. Adela realized and remember that name and smirk deviously at Elijah]

ELIJAH: Aya. Let me guess-- Five-foot-seven, built like a goddess, vicious as a viper?

JOSH: [confused] So, you know her?

ELIJAH: [smiles] I sired her.
ADELA: And I thought it was mom with the bad taste in relationships.

[Marcel awakens groggily to find that he's on the floor of a large, elegant room. When he finally remembers what happened, he sits up and looks at Aya, wiping the blood from his face as he does so]
