Chapter 3

I heard the soft thumping of someone coming to open the door.
Slowly the door creaked open and standing there was none other than my mother.
" Alexis, is that really you?" she asked.
"Yeah mom, I'm back."
That's when the dam broke. I was crying, she was crying.
"Andrea, who is it?" I heard my dad ask my mom from inside.
Soon after I heard the thumping of his feet coming to the door.
He stopped when he saw me. His face frozen and his eyes wide.
"Daddy, it's me."
He rushed towards me and gathered me in a big bear hug.
We were interupted by a little giggle. I looked down in my arms. Emma was smilling.
"Is that her?" mom asked.
"Mom, Dad, I would like you to meet your grandaughter Emma." I said my voice filled with pride.
"Oh darling, isn't she breathtaking" mom said. " May I hold her?"
To overwelmed by my happiness, I just nodded and handed Emma to her.
I walked into the house, feeling elated.
"Mom, dad, you guys don't mind me staying here...right?" I asked uncertain of their answer.
"Of course!" they both said at the same time.
I nodded my head in appretiation.
I went outside and brought our bags in, closing the door behind me.
I brought my bags up to my old room.
It was exactly how I had left it. I essembled Emma's crib.
It was so good to finally be home.
