I automatically jumped out of bed and ran to my dresser to grab the letter. I looked on the cover of it. I opened the letter and It said:

--------------------------------------

To my bff Lily,

I'm going to miss you my friend. You are my truly best friend. We had good times together! Remember that one time we sprayed the neighbors cat with a hose? Haha genius! I remember Mr. Kearney was so in shock because he had no idea why his cat was so wet. He tried to take that silly old cat to the vet! Anyways I have a favor for you. See I have always wanted to swim with the king of the seas, Sharks. So maybe you could find an interest in it? Just give it a try! Also I want you to make new friends. Friends that will stay by your side. Well, I guess that's that. Please write back(:

Your little friend

---------------------------------------

A teardrop rolled down my check, and dropped on the paper. I put the letter back in the envelope when I felt something in the letter. I pulled it out. It was a gold necklace, that had a little butterfly that said "Bff" I put the necklace around my neck and went to sleep.

I woke up the next morning to weird chicken noises that sounded extremely close too. My eyes opened to see a chicken standing on the ledge of my window. I screamed and fell out of bed. My mom came running in, asking what was wrong. I pointed to the window and she started to laugh. She went over and scared the bird away. After that I went downstairs to have breakfast in which I noticed that my mom made French toast. I sat down at our long white table and started to eat. My dad had mentioned that today I could go down to the ocean and make some friends, but I wasn't sure if I was ready. I'm not a shy person but at the same time I'm not the type of kid to just go up to people. After I was done eating, I went back upstairs to get ready. My dad gave me $10 bucks in emergency money, and handed me my sweater. I got on my bike and rode down to the beach. The sand was so soft, the waves crashing into the shore was so soothing and it was a beauty in general. The first thing that caught my eyes besides the general view was a girl, about my age running up to me. She had black straight hair and had pretty green eyes. Clueless to who she was, I could tell she wasn't afraid to greet a stranger.

" Hi!" she said with much enthusiasm.

" Hello.." I replied quietly.

" Are you new here?"

" Why yes. Not to be rude or anything, but who are you?" I asked

" I'm Emily! What's your name?" As she struck out her hand.

" I'm Lily!"

" Well Aloha Lily! Welcome to the island life! I will introduce you to one more friend of mine."

She walked up to a boy, once again, our age. He had ragged blonde hair, blue eyes, and had a pretty cute smile.

" David, This is Lily! Lily, this is David! She's new here. " Emily said.

He handed his hand out and said Aloha.

" Do you want to go get a smoothy with us? We can get to know each other better? It's on me!" he asked.

" Of course, who turns down smoothies?" I laughed.

As we were walking, I thought about the letter again and thought,"Swimming with Sharks?"
