CHAPTER SIXTEEN:
YOUR BAD SIDESHE SLOWLY STARTED TO GET back into her natural pattern that she had before being captured by HYDRA. She would wake up, eat, train with May, take a shower, eat again, and take the time to talk with her sister and Fitz as they worked on whatever project they were working on at the current time. One thing she had yet to do, was talk to Daisy Johnson after snapping at her over food. It wasn't her best moment, she knew that, but after being forced to wait for things to be handed to her, she wanted to be able to do all of that herself, and somehow Daisy bringing her food just triggered her anger.
Sapphire made her way towards the kitchen, stopping for a moment when she saw Daisy and May standing there talking to one another. May turned her head, catching Sapphire's eyes before looking back towards Daisy and ending the conversation before walking away. Daisy watched the woman leaving before turning on her heel and stopping upon noticing Sapphire standing there.
"Here to yell at me again?" She asked.
"If you would prefer that." Sapphire answered, shrugging her shoulders though the corner of her lips turned upwards. Daisy rose an eyebrow at her and Sapphire softly sighed before taking a seat at the bar. "I wanted to apologize to you. Both of our meetings involved me yelling at you, and I really don't want you to think that's the kind of person that I am. Because it's not. You've just caught me off guard both times and I just. . . I'm sorry."
Daisy shrugged her shoulders. "It's alright. I know you've been through a lot, so I don't really blame you." She managed a small smile to which Sapphire returned. "Glad to know that I'm not on your bad side. I have a feeling that if I get on your bad side, than I get on May's bad side, and I really don't want that."
Sapphire chuckled as she nodded her head. "Yeah, trust me, you don't. I was on May's bad side when we first met, and it was not a pretty sight. We could barely be in the same room together. And then. . . we were forced to go on a mission together, had each other's back, I saved her from getting killed whilst she did the same for me, we became mutuals and our beautiful friendship just blossomed from there."
Daisy smiled at this. She couldn't help but let her shoulders relax as she talked to the woman. Sapphire was such an easy going person, she could easily tell that. And Daisy understood why she had acted the way she had towards her, because she was nothing but a stranger to Sapphire. But Daisy wanted that to change. The woman she was talking to intrigued her for some reason. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but Sapphire radiated a certain energy that Daisy liked. She seemed like a hard ass, and she could be one―︎in fact, that's how she had been their first two introductions. But seeing this version of Sapphire, one that was smiling and managing to laugh, it looked so much better on her.
Daisy couldn't help but wonder what had happened to Sapphire in that place. She knew the damage that HYDRA could do, but after hearing the stories that Jemma had been telling her, she wonder how much damage HYDRA had truly done to the woman sitting in front of her. She wanted to ask, but she couldn't bring herself to do it. It wasn't any of her business, and if Sapphire wanted to talk to her about it, than she would. But they had just managed to start talking to each other without glaring, and Daisy didn't want to ruin that.
"Hey, listen, I know May is your training partner or whatever, but if you wanted to mix it up a little, I wouldn't mind training with you." Daisy shrugged her shoulders.
Sapphire cocked an eyebrow at her, smirking slightly. "Oh, yeah? Well, I might have to take you up on that offer, Johnson. But just know, I am one of the only people here that can get May on the mat."
"Oh, I've made a mistake."
Sapphire smiled before standing up. "I'm excited to see what you've got. And I hope to be impressed, especially if May was your teacher. Bright and early tomorrow, Daisy. And don't hold back."
"Trust me, I won't." Sapphire smirked at this before turning on her heels and walked away.
"That's a first." Daisy jumped in surprise at the sound of May's voice coming from behind her. She turned her head, watching as the woman made her way towards her. "Sapphire usually never trusts anyone to train with her other than me, for reasons unknown to me. She must really like you."
"Let's just call it luck." Daisy waved her off. "She's actually talking to me now, so that's all I really care about. I know I'll have to gain her trust, and I'll work everyday to do so."
"Well, good luck. She's a hard one to crack."
"She can't possibly be harder than you." Daisy faltered slightly. "Right?" May only smirked at her before walking away once more, leaving Daisy to stand there by herself, and allowing a soft sigh to fall from her lips as she shook her head. "What have I gotten myself into?"
