Chapter Twelve - Dark

As Penny was rushed in the Schnee Manor, Zatt and Professor Huyang began tending to Penny while Klein tended to Nora who had regained consciousness. Suddenly, all power in the manor was shut down. What followed was a loud screeching.

Ruby: What was that?

Katooni: We'll check it out.

With that, the Kybuck Clan exited the Schnee Manor to investigate the noise. As they exited the manor, they found nothing out of the ordinary. They looked to the horizon to see Mantle in flames.

Byph: This...this is going too far! We have to end this!

Katooni: We will, Ganodi. But first, we need to do our part here.

With that, the Kybuck Clan began walking the grounds of the Schnee Manor in search for whatever caused that screech. Suddenly, they were attacked by a flock of Shyrack Sithspawn. The Jedi ignited their Lightsabers and attacked the creatures. As they cut down some of the Sithspawn, the remaining Shyrack retreated.

Ganodi: What were those things?! I've never seen Grimm like that!

Zatt: Those were definitely Sithspawn. But why did they just retreat?

Katooni: I doubt that's the last we'll see of them. We need to head back....

Before Katooni could finish her sentence, a commotion was heard from inside the manor. Without wasting any time, the Kybuck Clan rushed inside to find Ruby's group attacked by Shyrack Sithspawn as well as Tuk'ata Sithspawn. The Kybuck Clan soon joined the others in combating the Sithspawn. As both Ruby's group and the Kybuck Clan battled against the Sithspawn, the Hound broke into the manor and began chasing after Penny.

Scourge: It's after the android!

Scourge attempts to intercept the Hound, but it ambushed by a Tuk'ata Sithspawn who bites Scourge in the neck. Tapping into his pain and rage, Scourge reaches for his Lightsaber and plunges it into his left side, killing the Tuk'ata Sithspawn in the process. Scourge fought through the pain as he cut through the Sithspawn. As the Sithspawn continued their attack, the Hound continued chasing after Penny. As the Hound corners her, Huyang steps in.

Huyang: Stand back, beast! You will not harm her!

The Hound: Take. The. Girl.

The Hound then grabs Huyang and throws him against the wall. He then knocks out Penny and attempts to run off with her. The Hound was soon attacked by Ruby.

Ruby: That's....enough!

Ruby then activates her Silver Eyes and unleashes a powerful light on the Hound. The resulting attack greatly damaged the Hound. The Hound's inner core was soon exposed, revealing the head of a decrepit Silver-Eyed male fox Faunus with unsightly veins covering his face. Everyone was shocked by this discovery.

The Hound: Take...the girl. Take the girl. Take the girl. Take the girl!

As the Hound was about to attack, Katooni unleashed a powerful torrent of Force Judgement on the Hound. The inhuman screams of the Hound filled the room as Katooni blasted the half dead Grimm with Lightning. The Hound then lunged at Katooni with the intention to kill her. In one swift motion, Katooni reaches for her Lightsaber and strikes down the Hound with a quick and deep stab to the chest. As the Hound was killed, everyone took a moment to process what they had just witnessed.

Weiss: What was that?

Ruby: That was... a person.

As Ruby sat down to process this, the wounded Scourge inspected the bodies of the Sithspawn. As he did, he immediately recognized them.

Scourge: Shyrack. Tuk'ata. Beasts of Korriban.

May: Korriban?

Katooni: The ancient birthplace of the Sith. But how are these creatures get to Remnant?

Scourge: They didn't. They were created. Somehow, Darth Jadus managed to have DNA samples of these creatures smuggled into his prison. Once he found an opportunity, he created these Sithspawn from the DNA of the beasts of Korriban.

Katooni: Which means it's possible that he may have DNA samples of other beasts.

Scourge: Exactly.

As Scourge said this, Katooni noticed the Sith Lord's wounds. Without hesitation, Katooni walks up to Scourge and uses Force Heal to heal Scourge's wounds.

Scourge: What are you doing?

Katooni: Healing your wounds.

Scourge: That is not necessary. I have suffered worse.

Katooni: That doesn't matter. I'm not letting you keep this wound unchecked.

Scourge sighs in annoyance as Katooni heals Scourge's wounds. After healing Scourge's wounds, Katooni checks on Ruby.

Katooni: Are you okay?

Ruby: I....I don't know. It's all just... too much. The Grimm, the crater, Nora, Penny.... and now people trapped in Grimm. How do we fix all of it?

Katooni: We must remain strong, Ruby. As long as we have faith in ourselves, then there is hope. You cannot afford to lose hope now, Ruby. Remember what you said in the broadcast, we can't give up hope. Only when we lose that hope will we truly lose.

As Katooni said those words, Ruby found herself inspired by the Jedi's words. Soon enough, Ruby began to hope once more.

Scourge: Now we must plan our next move. It is clear that the android is Salem's target. We must be prepared.

Katooni: Petro and the others will come through. They always have.

Scourge: I hope you're right, Katooni. Because as it stands, we are at a heavy disadvantage.

In that moment, Katooni as well as the others in both the Kybuck Clan and Ruby's group continued to have faith in Petro and Yang's group. But in the meantime, they must prepare for what was to come as the combined forces of Darth Jadus and Salem close in on both Atlas and Mantle.
