We arrive home a few minutes later and we go inside "alright dad what do you want to show me?" i say
My dad takes me to his lab "i wanted to show you this" Carl says
"Woah what is all this" I say
"I've been working on this compound to give a single person any superpower they want" Carl says
"Cool" I say
"But it's very unstable right now it will probably cause an explosion that will probably kill us both" Carl says
"Can I test it first" I say
"Sure what power do you want?" Carl says
"Surprise me" I say
"Alright I'm going to inject the compound into you and you will feel a little pinch" Carl says
"Alright sounds good to me" I say
"Ok you may have some side effects after the injection" carl says getting a syringe and filling it up with the compound
"I'm ready" I say
"Ok here we go" carl says injecting the syringe into my body
"Did you do it yet?" I say
"Yea now I got some stuff to do get on out of here" Carl says
"Alright" I say leaving the lab
As I'm leaving I hear my dad yelling I turn back and I run back to the lab "James what are you doing here get out of here this place is going to blow up" Carl says
"Alright you should get out of here too I don't want you to die" I say
I run out of the lab as I get out I get flown forward by an explosion and my mom comes running In "what happened?" molly says
"I don't know something exploded and it flung me forward" I say
"Is Carl alright?" molly says
"No I think he's dead" I say
"No he can't be dead" molly says
"I'm sorry mom but he's gone" I say
"No no he can't be gone I loved him so much" molly says starting to cry
"Mom calm down" I say
"James just go to your room I need some time alone" molly says
"Alright mom fine" I say going to my room
I hear a knock at the door and i go open the door "James I heard an explosion what happened?" jack says
"My dad is dead from the explosion" I say
"Jesus man Do you want some company?" jack says
"Yea I do come on In" I say
Jack comes inside "so I see you're not taking your dads loss too well" jack says
"No I'm not I already miss him" I say
"I know how it feels to lose a dad" jack says
"You do?" I say
"Yea my dad has not been home since I was 5 so I basically assume that he's dead" jack says
"What about your mom?" i says
"She's stuck at work all the time and I barely see her" jack says
"I see I'm sorry to hear that" I say
"So i live alone and I have some sleepovers with some friends occasionally" jack says
"That sounds nice" I say
"Yea it is also here my phone number if you want to text me" jack says grabbing my phone and putting his contact info in it
"Thank you so much I'll probably text you later" I say
"Well I gotta go see you tomorrow at school" jack says leaving the house
I go to my room and i lay on my bed "today has been a really stressful day i need some sleep" I say to myself falling asleep
