Tubbo and Tommy walked into the kitchen, hand in hand, where Phil was setting out food. He looked up and smiled.
"Good, you're up Tommy! I made breakfast, figured you two would be hungry." He said, gesturing to two seats. Tommy tapped on Tubbo's wrist twice, signaling that he didn't want to talk now.
"Thanks, it looks good." Tubbo said quietly, sitting down, Tommy following close behind. Eventually, they couldn't resist and began greedily digging in. It was at this point where the great lumbering bear that was Technoblade groggily wandered in.
"Oh. The children are up. You need to stop bringing in stray kids, Phil. They're like dogs, you give them food and they keep running back." Techno drawled, going over to the coffee pot where there was a fresh pot brewing. He poured himself some very hot coffee into a plain white cup with a stylized pig and crown on it.
Tubbo and Tommy were just silent as they ate, only glancing at each other. When they were done, they set their dishes in the sink.
"We really need to get home." Tubbo said quietly. Phil looked like he was about to protest, but Techno shot him a look that quickly shot him down.
They grabbed Tommy's backpack and some money for the bus and went on their way. Tommy was very eager to get home and refused to explain the bruises on his arms. Tubbo didn't ask any questions as they went home.
"Ranboo's probably worried sick..." Tubbo murmured as they ascended the stairs to their apartment, still holding Tommy's hand, who was still non-verbal.
He fumbled for his keys before unlocking the door, somewhat shaking. Ranboo was sitting at the table, running his hands through his shaggy, light brown hair. He quickly perked up, smiling when he saw the pair, but his eyes were glazed with concern.
"Thank God you two are alright." Was all he said as he ran over and pulled the two into a tight hug. "Never do that again, please. I was so worried I could've lost both of you... I know you two can handle yourselves, but please..." Tubbo nodded, hugging Ranboo back.
"So what happened?" He asked as they all sat down on the couch. Tommy picked at a loose thread on his shirt while Tubbo explained.
"Well, Phil found us. His son, technically, some guy called Wilbur? Looks really different from his dad, though. I dunno. They gave us breakfast and money for the bus." Tubbo said, looking down at the floor, resting his elbows on his legs.
Out of the corner of Tubbo's eye, Ranboo straightened slightly. It was hardly visible but he was good at picking out the finer details.
"Well I'm happy you're okay... I sent the bot you made for me looking for you guys. Came back and couldn't find anything. Untraceable ghosts, huh?" Ranboo laughed a bit. "Will Tommy be okay?" Tubbo nodded.
"Yeah, it's just been a lot. Could go for a shower." Tommy nodded in agreement and rose to his feet, shaking a bit before making a b-line for the bathroom.
"You promise he's gonna be okay? Never seen him go that quiet for that long..."
"You haven't known him as long as I do. It used to happen more, but you've helped with it a lot. Give him a bit, and he'll go somewhat back to normal. But I don't think those bruises are from the orphanage, he'll want me to take care of them." He took Ranboo's hand, he was picking at his nails, and rubbed it gently. "Everything's fine, Ranboo. We're safe."
Ranboo dragged his free hand through his hair. "You better be right, Bee."
"Always am right, Boo."
***
Tommy's recovery was fine, he was speaking after his shower and Tubbo let him deal with the bruises. It was another day before he would talk about what happened.
