Letters; a Jegulus story

Chapter 21

As Winter break drew closer Regulus got more and more anxious about going to the Potter house for Christmas.

"James I know you really want me to come but what if my parents realize I'm not at Hogwarts?" Regulus asked as he was snuggled close to his boyfriend to keep warm on a cold December night.

"Well if they some how find out your not at Hogwarts you can just say your with Timothy." James replied while playing with Regulus' curls.

"Okay yeah but what if they send a letter to the Prewitts asking if I'm there? The Prewitts are really close with the Blacks no matter what Timmy could say they would still tell my parents." Regulus had gone over this argument about 100 times in his head before presenting the question to James.

"Well instead of saying your at the Prewitts say you went to El's house. They are pureblood right?" James asked. This made Regulus think for a moment. Then he remembered why, Regulus knew he planned for every possibility.

"Uh duh cause then my parents will think I'm dating them and my parents will say something like 'why didn't you tell us you were dating someone! You know the rules you aren't aloud to date someone out of the sacred 28 especially someone who is not even Slytherin.'" James was surprised by the response. He thought he had gotten Reg on that one.

"Why don't you tell them the truth that El is dating my Timmy." James asked after a few seconds. 'Dang James really must want me to go to his house.' Regulus thought to himself.

"I can't tell them Timothy is dating El because then they will get mad at him and forbid us to hangout and I don't think I can survive a summer at the Black house without him."

"Well why don't you ya know not go back there." James asked hopefully.

"James I know you want me to stay at your house over the summer but my parents had already given up on Sirius. They probably were half hoping he would leave. But me, the only heir, the Slytherin, the one who does as told, they would look for me and find me and force me back." James had a disappointed look on his face but ended up snuggling closer to Reg.

"Okay yeah I guess. But here is the plan you go to my house IF your parents realize you are not at the Timothy's or Hogwarts you tell them you are at El's. Then if they ask about you two dating say she is dating Timmy and if they get mad at him we can figure it out from there." James says in his best authority like tone. Regulus sighs and thinks it over.

"Fine. We will do that." Regulus states after about a minute. James smiles brightly before kissing Regulus on the cheek.

James lays back against the pillows they had layed out in the tower before pulling Reg down with him. Regulus rested his head on top of James chest and James wrapped a protective arm around Regs body.

"Goodnight Reg." James whispered into Regulus ear. "Night Jamsie" Regulus hummed back. James chuckled at the nickname.

Early the next morning Regulus snuck back into his dorm room.

"Well, well, well, look who finally decided to come to bed." Timothy whisper yelled trying not to wake there other dorm mates.

Regulus quietly closed the door before walking over to his bed. "James and I were talking about Christmas break and then we fell asleep. It's not that big." Regulus said as he laid down.

"Good cause I don't want you two doing it on the floor of that cold gross tower." Regulus laughed.

"You sound like my brother. He said the same thing to us when he found out we were dating. He said something like 'If your going to have sex you can't do it on the floor, your mother raised you better then that.'" Timmy snorted at being compared to The Sirius Black.

"Okay well I will let you sleep then." Timothy said as he closed the curtain around his bed. Regulus did the same thing and quickly drifted off to sleep.

As Regulus walked to potions that afternoon he struggled to keep the smile off his face. They were working in pairs so professor Slughorn had put James back next to him.

When Timothy and Regulus arrived Regulus immediately noticed the lack of people in front of the class. Timothy seemed to notice to so he stopped talking about his most recent date with  El.

"Do you hear that it sou-" before Timmy could even finish his sentence people started chanting from around the hall.

'Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!' Regulus and Timothy rushed over to find a circle of people surrounding what looked like a Gryffindor and a Slytherin.

"I'm gonna kill you for what you said to Evans!" Regulus heart fell as he recognized the voice immediately. Regulus glanced over at Timothy who was shaking his head at Regulus. Timothy also grabbed the top of Regulus' arm to make sure he did go to help James.

"Aww look at Potter protecting his little mudblood girlfriend." A voice Regulus recognize as belonging to Avery sung back.

"First of all she is not my girlfriend. Second even if she was she wouldn't need me protecting her you misogynistic death eater wannabe!" Avery scoffed at being called a misogynistic death eater wannabe all though they were both true.

As Regulus got closer he saw Avery and James standing at opposite ends of the circle both of them with there wands out. Lily and Sirius stood behind James and one of Averys friends stood behind him.

"I don't see how either of the things I said were offensive I was just stating the truth! That Evans girl is a filthy mudblood and you are her knight in shinning armor!"

Just as James raised his wand Slughorn came running out.

"Enough! Enough! Avery we do not use that sort of language here. Weeks worth of detentions! And both of you will get an extra weeks for fighting. Now scurry along to class."

As the group separated Regulus walked up and held James hand knowing among all the confusion no one would see.

James looked down at his hand before looking up and giving Regulus a small smile which Regulus returned as they turned and walked towards the classroom together.

I'm so sorry for not posting last week. I have no good excuse I was just to lazy to write and TikTok is very addictive. I hope this chapter makes up for it though. Anyway did y'all watch the first episode of Loki? IT WAS SO GOOD! I hope you have an amazing day love you!
