Letters; a Jegulus story

Chapter 11

"Hey James" Sirius said as he approached James who was pacing around the great hall.

"Hey how did your talk with Baby Black go?" James asked as he turned to his best friend.

"It was good I guess I didn't realize how much I missed him." Sirius said. "So whats up with you and Reg anyways he said that you knew that Walburga and Orion want him to be a death eater? Also Why didn't you tell me! We could have gotten together so much sooner if I had known what was going on." James felt guilty for not telling Sirius everything but sometimes you had to keep secrets, even from your best mate.

"I just wanted him to tell you when he was ready. I know I should have told you." Sirius only nodded.

As they started to walk back up to Gryffindor common room a question that had been nagging at James' mind since Regulus turned him away only about an hour earlier came to the front of his brain. "Do you think Reg is mad at me? I don't know why he would be but yesterday we were... talking when he just got up and ran off then he told me to leave while y'all were talking."

Sirius looked at him for a few seconds "I don't know. He didn't say anything about it but I never know whats going on inside his mind." Both boys nodded as they stepped into Gryffindor tower.

"Hello my lovely moony have you missed me?" Sirius said as he batted his eyes at his boyfriend who was sitting in an armchair by the fire reading.

" You were gone for like an hour." Remus said as he watch as Sirius sat down in the chair with him.

"Yes I don't know how you managed." Sirius snuggled up against Remus. Remus rolled his eyes.

James sat down on the floor by the fire and watched the flames dance as he thought.

'Why would Reg be mad at me? I haven't done anything wrong have I? Probably not he is probably just stressed or something. Maybe he does just have a lot of homework.'

"James I don't know how you stand to put up with him." Remus' comment snapped him back into reality.

"What?" Remus simply rolled his eyes.

"I don't know how you can put up with Sirius all the time." Remus repeated as Sirius put a hand over his heart and gasped. "He is quite the drama queen." James agreed and with this Sirius nearly feel out of his and Remus' chair.

"How dare you insult me like this. I'm going to find new friends. Like- like Lily. Lily you will be my new bestie right?"

James turned to see the beautiful red haired girl that he had been obsessed with for the last 5 years walk into the common room.

" Absolutely not. If I were going to be anyone one of the Marauders new bestie it would be Remus' because he is the only one I can actually stand." At this both James and Sirius looked hurt.

"Sorry babe I guess your stuck with us." Remus said with a laugh but Sirius put on a pouty face which only made Remus laugh more.

"Oh um James can I talk with you outside."

James had been watch the moony padfoot interaction and trying to hold back his laughs but he looked up from them and stood up. "Uh yeah lead the way my lady."

As Lily and James walked out into the hallway James couldn't help but smile. "Um James I just wanted to thank you for the fact that you left me alone this year." James smiled at Lily Evans.

"Yeah I guess I finally learned what 'no James I do not want to go on a date with you now or ever' means." He said with a laugh. This also made Lily smile.

"Yeah maybe I was a little harsh."  James just shook his head.

"Nah I was probably pretty annoying." Lily was about to say something when Alice came running up to her.

"Oh uh hey James, Lily I'm uh sorry to bother you but can you help me. I'm working on my transfiguration homework and I have no idea what I'm doing." Lily nodded.

"Uh yeah of course it's no bother. Well um see ya around James." Then she leaned over and kissed him on the cheek before following Alice.

"What did Lily want?" Remus asked as James sat down in the armchair next to the snuggling couple. No one outside of Gryffindor knew they were dating but James thought it wouldn't be long until the entire school knew.

"She wanted to thank me for leaving her alone the past few months." James said. "Ah so your plan for leaving here alone is working then." Sirius asked sitting up wanting to hear all the tea.

"I- I mean yeah she even gave me a kiss on the cheek before she ran off with Alice." Sirius started clapping which made Remus start laughing but James' face turned red.

"And here me and Sirius thought you found a new crush, turns out you just listened to our advice." Remus said while laughing at his boyfriend.

Just then a short plump boy ran into the common room out of breathe. "James! James I just heard Lily and Alice talking! Alice asked Lily what was going on between you two and Lily said 'nothing for now I guess but I think if he asked me out I would say yes." Peter squeaked before before turning into a rat from excitement.

James and Sirius laughed at Peter before Sirius turned back to him. "So are you gonna ask her out mate? I think the first Hogsmead trip is next weekend." James burned even redder.

"I- I guess I will ask her then when she gets back fr-"

Sirius cut him off as he stood up " JAMES FLEAMONT POTTER IF YOU DON'T GO DOWN TO THE LIBRARY AND ASK LILY OUT RIGHT THIS SECOND THEN I- I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WILL DO BUT I WILL DO SOMETHING!"

James quickly stood up and ran out of the common room and down to the library.

"Hey uh Lily I know that you just praised me for not asking you out all year but uh would you maybe want to go to Hogsmead with me?" James asked when he found Lily and Alice. Lily smiled at James

"I would love that."

James thought he heard a pile of books fall but he didn't care he had just asked Lily Evans out and she had said yes.

James and Lily are going on a date but what about Regulus!?!? Also this chapter was so much fun to write I loved writing Sirius it made me smile so much. Also its from James' pov!
