It had been 2 weeks sense him and James had talked and Regulus was ignoring the Marauders.

It was Tuesday afternoon and Regulus was walking into potions. Regulus had pretty much mastered not looking at Sirius but it was still hard to not look at James. Regulus was not sure why but for some reason ever sense the Slugclub meeting 2 weeks ago Regulus was finding it hard to keep himself from staring at James but whenever he looked at James he got angry so Regulus decided to just look at neither James nor Sirius.

Once Regulus sat down he began taking out his potions supplies and arranging himself so if he looked over at the table next to him he would only see Timmy's large head next to him.

Regulus did not want to talk to Timothy either because last week Timothy had become a death eater, against his will of course. He only did it because he didn't want to disappoint his parents who he suspected was also getting pressurized into it. But either way Timmy was now a death eater which had made Regulus a lot more distant.

When Slughorn got to the front of the class he didn't start writing on the board which surprised Regulus most days he started the class by writing the potion on the board. "Today we are doing a group assignment, you will be working in pairs with the person at your table." Regulus sighed him and Timothy still talked so he wasn't really disappointed  with his partner but also if it had been a 4 person group he would have also had to work with Sirius and James.

"Okay ever get out one cauldron for your table also Timothy and James switch as our 2 best potioneers need to be working together so no one can slack off." Regulus looked at Timmy both of them had fear in there eyes but Regulus took a deep breathe and prepared himself mentally.

"Hi baby Black, it seems like you've been avoiding me sense our little chat a few weeks ago." James said as he slid into the seat next to Regulus.

"It's probably because I have been avoiding you" Regulus muttered back as he moved his stuff off the table.

While working James kept asking Regulus questions that Regulus believed to be way to personal like whats your favorite color and whats your favorite quidditch team. Regulus just ignored him but James' pestering was driving him insane. "So what is your favorite shop at Diagon alley." At this Regulus lost he decided he would open up.

"I like the quidditch store."

At this James gasped very dramatically "Oh thats one of my favorites. Also I have seen you play quidditch and you are really good but Sirius says that your not supposed to play quidditch at home so A. where did you get so good and B. why did your parents let you play?"

For the rest of class Regulus and James talked Regulus was happy about this. He felt safe talking to James and he was also happy James wasn't trying to convince him to befriend his brother anymore.

At the end of class Slughorn assigned them homework that they had to work on with there partner so James and Regulus decided to meet in the library in an hour to work on it.

"Bye Reggie." James said as he got up.

 "Bye Potter."

At this James gasped dramatically I put his hand on his heart. "I thought we were starting to be friends but then... You call me by my last name again ouch." At this Regulus rolled his eyes and put away the remainder of his things.

"You and Potter seem to be getting along." Timothy and Regulus were walking back to Slytherin common room together.

"Oh shut up we are just doing the assignment." Regulus rolled his eyes but inside he was scared that other Slytherins thought that too.

An hour later Regulus walked to the library with Timothy who said that he was coming because he had a lot of homework and the Slytherin common room was simply to loud but Regulus thought it was for other reasons seeing as Timothy spent lunch doing homework.

When Regulus got into the library he stopped which startled Timmy who was confused until he saw Sirius sitting next to James.

"Okay so here is what we are gonna do I'm gonna say that me and Sirius need to work on our homework away from you guys so neither of us cheat got it?" Timothy was always quick with coming up with plans and Regulus nodded.

"Okay but what if he's like no me and James are going to do it together anyways? Should we just leave?" Regulus asked still nodding.

"Sounds like a plan."

As they walked over Regulus kept his head down his curls just long enough to cover his eyes so he could watch Sirius.

"Hey Reg! Hey... it's Timothy right?" James stood up and Sirius glanced at Regulus for a second before him to put his head down.

"Don't call me that Potter. Anyway nicknames are stupid." Regulus said quietly while also trying to make it sound like he was also making fun of the marauders dumb nicknames for each other which had actually started his suspicion about Remus' illnesses.

"Well if you want to be friends with me Reggie your gonna have to get used to nicknames."

This made Regulus frustrated "I don't want to be your friend Potter I'm just trying to get this project over with." Regulus had forgotten about the presents of his brother and looked up into James eyes as he spoke.

Regulus could tell that this had hurt James and he really did want to be friends with Regulus but Regulus knew it was a bad idea. "Oh you think that Slughorn is going to put me back next to Sirius after this? His 2 favorite students whispering in there friends ears on how to make their potion better." At this Regulus took one look at Timothy who nodded his head then back at James before turning around and walking away.

That night Regulus did the work of 2 people and wrote his potions essay by himself.
