"If you say you're sorry one more time, I'll get angry and will yell at you again..." Ruby growls looking at me with a furrowed brow and Morgan meows worried from the couch, staring at us cautiously.
"I just wanted you to help me with the zipper..." I answer quietly turning around and the artist heaves a sigh behind me before moving closer, her soft knuckles graze the skin of my back over the fresh tattoo and her lips kiss my nape gently when she finishes zipping up the dress made of white silk with some gorgeous birds and green leaves embroidered. It's a piece of Vinnia's collection from last year that the druid was determined to lend me to wear tonight, it's way flashier than my usual clothes but prettier and softer and the truth is that my sister was so thrilled about the idea of seeing me wearing one of her dresses that I was unable to say no.
"You look beautiful... My love, everything will be all right, okay?" The witch cradles my face with her tattooed hands and her thumbs rub my cheeks. "I'm wearing all my protective charms and the spell I casted to control your hunter is especially powerful tonight but you have to tell me if you feel sick or you have a headache. Or ask your sisters for help if I'm busy talking to the press..."
"All right..." I nod reluctantly.
"All right... does it mean you agree with me or it means 'leave alone and I'll do whatever the fuck I want'?" Ruby raises an eyebrow staring at me suspiciously but her smile shows me she's actually joking, I can't help smiling in response leaning my forehead on her neck to hug her not caring if my makeup gets ruined.
"It means I'm scared, I still think this is a big mistake, I don't understand why you care so much about me... but I'm not fighting against the will of the goddess, she's decided I have to stay by your side and be a member of your coven so I'm going to try to do my best... And in addition to that, the ghost of my grandma likes you, apparently... But you should remain on alert, just in case..." The artist puts her arms around my torso and hugs me tight.
"We were meant to be together, Iselen, not only because the goddess said so... I care about you because I feel we fit together, everything is fine in my world when I know you're behind the counter in the parlour and you'll go back home with me when I finish work, we'll have dinner and cuddle on the couch with Morgan... I've been waiting a long time for you, the woman who turns a movie night with popcorn into something exciting, funny, romantic and perfect only because you're with me... I won't let that stupid hunter come between us."
"Fine, all right, we'll keep watching movies together..." I answer feeling a bit overwhelmed by her passionate words. My feelings for the witch are growing more powerful every day and I'm worried because I get the impression that this is going too fast between us although there's nothing I can do, I can't fight my heart when the most beautiful woman in New York kisses my forehead and her delicious perfume wraps my mind up. Ruby smiles and releases me to be able to move away and put her shoes on. "But if you eat all the chocolate again I'll be the one kicking your ass, not the hunter."
