"They're crazy, Ruby, seriously..." My girl looks at me confused from the passenger seat while Thyra drives slowly following Lester who's in the car in front of us giving instructions to Savannah and checking the GPS tracker. We're supposed to listen and record whatever those idiots are saying as long as we stay a few meters away from them, that's why my sister has done her best to overtake some vehicles and keeps nipping at the hells of the car that's right behind them.

"I thought you had a good time, you left the meeting laughing..." Ruby answers impatiently when we stop at a traffic light.

"I had a great time but never blushed so hard in my entire life... No one told me before I got there that the last book they had read and that was today's topic of discussion... was an erotic book." My sisters turn their heads to stare at me in shock till a car behind us honks the horn and Thyra steps on the gas. "And you can't even imagine what kind of book it was... There was a little bit of everything: lesbian sex, straight sex, orgies, sex in public places, BDSM games..."

"My mom is reading pornography?" Ruby asks outraged.

"Actually, it's a trilogy and they've finished the last book... They looked disappointed because the main characters didn't get married in the end." Elvira bursts into laughing next to me.

"I have to join that book club, definitely."

"I don't know why I am surprised," my girl growls while shaking her head. "We're talking about my mom and her hippy friends... They have a very special concept of what's funny."

"Wait till I tell you about the weed..." The tattoo artist turns her head to look at me, worried, while our sisters try to hold their laugh. "Do you know Frederika? And her friend Gretchen... Two women from Germany, about 95 years old, that got married to two American soldiers and came to live in this country after the II World War was over."

"Oh, Goddess, yes I know them... They can't stop getting into trouble since they became widows. What have they done now?" Thyra chuckles while we stop again very close to Savannah's bumper.

"They'd never tried marijuana before, apparently, despite they've been fooling around with witchcraft for long years, you know sorceresses have been using hallucinogenic and psychotropic plants for centuries, so they know jimsonweed and mandrake but not cannabis and they were curious about it. They didn't want to die without trying it... That's why your mom baked some special chocolate brownies for the book club girls last month... Everybody had a really good time and they want to repeat the experience."

"My mom is helping two 95 year-old ladies to get high..." Ruby says slowly staring at me with an eyebrow raised, like she can't believe it but she's not surprised at the same time. "At least, cannabis is legal in NY now and she won't end up in jail... I hope. Why have we stopped? There aren't traffic lights here."

"Where are we?" I ask curiously looking through the window at the tall buildings around us.

"In Lenox Hill, in the Upper East Side. I think Zalir and her minions are going back home..." Thyra answers. "What the hell is Kanti doing?" The pretty Canadian girl is waving her hand behind the window of the other car and points at Ruby. Suddenly, her phone starts ringing.

"Yes? Lester, what's wrong? All right... I'll put you on speaker." My girlfriend holds the device in her tattooed hand so we can all listen to the conversation while she looks at us perplexed.

"A garbage truck had an accident and there're two other vehicles involved, I think no one is hurt, but the truck is blocking the street and we'll be stuck here while the drivers argue and the police try to impose order and bring a tow truck to move it. Those idiots are still close to us but there's a SUV between us and we're hidden behind it, luckily. I've been listening to their conversation, nothing interesting so far, they've been criticising Iselen's clothes and Katia and her friends' behaviour..."
