They met the lord and lady at breakfast. After drinking their watered wine and eating their chunk of bread, they decided that today would be a good day to walk about the town. Sungjae offered to show them around, as he was technically in charge of the city. Jennie enjoyed the scenery. It was clear that both he and Lady Joy took pride in their home.
Part of Jennie knew that this shouldn't feel right considering she had just gotten out of war with people like this, but she couldn't bring herself to dwell on that right now.
As they walked, Jennie couldn't help mentioning to Lisa that she would like to visit the walls at some point. She didn't expect the blonde to quickly request that Sungjae have some expert to take them there and explain how they'd been built. Lord Sungjae seemed excited to show off their defense to the two princesses and didn't hesitate to call one of their technicians.
"Thank you," Jennie said to her wife while Sungjae was busy doing some things.
"As a future queen I should be aware of how their defense system works," Lisa said passively. "This is as much for me as it is for you."
Jennie knew this was a lie. Lisa had little interest in military architecture, she was doing this because she knew Jennie would like it. The action was sweet— sweeter than Jennie would have expected from her. It left a warmth in her chest that she didn't understand.
The rest of the day flew by. After the trip to the walls, Lisa and Jennie were shown the rest of the town and castle. They spent their whole day in the company of the lord and lady, who seemed happy to entertain them. By the time it was night, Jennie was exhausted once again.
Falling into the same bed, felt different than it had the night before. Lisa laid to the right, giving the feline woman the rest of the bed for herself. Jennie guessed that was how this was supposed to be. They were too tired to have sex, so there really shouldn't be any intimacy between them, right?
She laid down next to Lisa. The bed felt cold and empty without touching her. Jennie didn't like it. She wanted to be in Lisa's arms again.
She didn't care that they weren't in love, or that this whole thing was complicated, messy, and confusing. Slowly, she moved toward Lisa, who's eyes followed her even while she made no movement.
She took Lisa's hands in her and wrapped the alpha's arms around her. She let herself relax into the embrace. Lisa shifted her weight, pulling her just a little bit closer. Jennie then drifted off feeling completely at peace.
The next day, Lisa had some business with the lord and lady to attend to, so Jennie spent her time with Rosé and Jisoo. Both seemed to be doing a lot better since the fight of the journey there. They smiled and held each other's hands. Jennie couldn't help grinning as well as she watched them.
She was happy that they were getting so close. Maybe Rosé would be what it took for Jisoo to break her non-commitment streak. Jennie knew how many broken hearts she left behind her, and she also knew how much Jisoo chose to ignore this. It wasn't good for her, or the omegas she fooled around with. Jennie would have talked to her about it a long time ago if she thought there was a chance that her friend would listen to her.
Still this was different than all the other relationship she'd seen Jisoo abandon. Jisoo looked like she was in love. Rosé did as well. Jennie didn't know if either of them even realized it, but she had never seen her alpha friend like this before. It was nice.
"How are things with Lisa?" Jisoo asked her out of the blue.
Jennie stopped a smirk from forming on her face. Things with Lisa certainly were interesting. Despite Jisoo's usual lack of a verbal filter, Jennie had a feeling that sex wasn't what she was asking her about.
