Lexi and Sam - Aris

A/N: Had to include another one shot with Aris involved. I've been wanting to give more insight on him, and Amelia (even their third child as well). Enjoy.

April 2015

Lexi sighed when she woke up to Aris's crying which could be heard over the baby monitor. The littlest addition to their family was two months old, and both Lexi and Sam loved him. Yet, he could be a handful. They hadn't had a reasonable sleep in over two months - for Lexi, a few months - it was a lot, but they were finally parents. And for them, being parents, even if at a young age, was one of their dreams come true.

Lexi sat up in bed, ensuring that she got out of Sam's arms without waking him up. She checked her phone, and fought the urge to groan aloud when it read two in the morning. "I won't be sleeping anytime soon." She thought, getting out of bed, and slipping out of the room.

She smiled when she gently opened Aris's bedroom door, and walked towards his crib where he was crying. "Hi buddy." She whispered, gently stroking her hand over his head. When Aris saw her and heard her voice, he began to calm down. He smiled up at her, despite the little tears rolling down his cheeks. His smile always reminded Lexi of Sam, and she swore he was a miniature replica of him. The resemblance was uncanny.

Lexi couldn't help her growing smile, as she leaned down, and cautiously picked Aris up. Once he was in her arms, he snuggled up to her, while she grabbed his blanket. Carefully laying him on the changing table, she swaddled him in the blanket before walking over to the rocking chair and getting comfortable.

"I love you so much." She said quietly, as she watched her son stare up at her. She continued to talk to him and whisper comforting things, even humming here and there. She found nothing worked, and Aris was adamant on not going back to bed.

"You know what?" Lexi asked, as she stood up. "We're going to go wake daddy up, and see if he'll play you a song. Then you can sleep with us for the rest of the night. It'll save us a trip to your bedroom in an hour." She decided, walking back to the master bedroom.

Once she was back in their bedroom, she sat down on her side of the bed with Aris in her arms. She looked over at Sam who was fast asleep. "Well here goes nothing." She thought, as she tapped him on the arm. "Sam, wake up." Lexi whisper-yelled. She sighed when he didn't budge. "Come on." She groaned quietly.

Finally, after some failed attempts, she flicked him across the nose, causing him to sit up, rather abruptly. He looked around, before finally turning his attention to Lexi.

"Sam, you look like you've seen a ghost." Lexi joked quietly, as Sam chuckled, despite feeling exhausted.

"What's up?" He asked.

"Aris is not sleeping...and I've been up with him for the past hour." Lexi said, gesturing to their son who was wide awake, and observing his surroundings. Soon enough, his little green eyes found Lexi and Sam's, and he decided to stare up at them, causing his parents to smile.

"What I was also going to say was that, maybe you could play him a song on your guitar. It always helps him fall asleep." Lexi suggested.

"I can do that." Sam nodded.

"I'm going to then keep him in his little crib in here so both of us can avoid getting up and walking down the hallway to his room." Lexi said, as she stood up, holding Aris in her arms while Sam got up and grabbed his guitar, before settling back down on the bed.

Lexi allowed her son to settle in her arms, as he snuggled up to her. She laughed quietly when Aris babbled some words, but kept his indirect attention on his dad, who looked over at him.

"All right buddy." He said, as he strapped the guitar across his chest. "What should we play?" He asked, as Aris, once again, babbled some words. "That one? Okay." Sam smiled, as he began to strum the strings to a song he had sent Lexi a few months earlier while she was struggling with the whole pregnancy. It had a special place in both her and Sam's hearts, and so, it had become Aris's song as well.

Why do birds suddenly appear
Every time you are near?

Just like me
They long to be
Close to you

Why do stars fall down from the sky
Every time you walk by?

Just like me
They long to be
Close to you

On the day that you were born
And the angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true

So they sprinkled moondust
In your hair of gold
And starlight in your eyes of blue

Lexi smiled, watching with fond eyes as her husband sang the song to their son. Not only was it a special song, but it made up for the time that Sam was gone at work. He would come home, and sing a song to Aris. During the middle of the song, Sam turned and smirked at Amira, causing her to blush, before looking down at Aris. She swore she felt her heart melt when their son's eyes fluttered close, and little snores became audible.

(changed the lyric to girls, but I'm not opposed to keeping the og lyric).

That is why all the girls in town
Follow you all around
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you

On the day that you were born
And the angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true

So they sprinkled moondust
In your hair of gold
And starlight in your eyes of blue

That is why all the boys in town
Follow you all around

Just like me
They long to be
Close to you

Just like me
They long to be
Close to you

Aah, aah, aah, ooh yeah
Close to you
Aah, aah, aah
Aah aah aah
Oh, close to you

As Sam finished singing and strumming the song on his guitar, Lexi smiled again. "Well, it looks like your music did the trick." She commented, as Sam chuckled, glancing at their son who was fast asleep in his wife's arms.

"I'm going to just place him in the crib." Lexi said, as she slowly stood up, and made her way to the crib in the corner of their bedroom. She gently placed Aris in the crib, before slowly backing away.

Once she was certain he was settled, she quietly made her way back to the bed. Lexi squealed when Sam pulled her into his arms.

"Don't wake the baby again." Sam whispered, as she chuckled softly, trying to escape his grasp.

However, once Lexi gave in, deciding to settle, Sam brought her closer to him, allowing her to lean her head against his chest, while his hand traced up and down her arm. The couple lay there in comfortable silence, enjoying each other's company.

Sam decided to break the silence. Looking down at his wife with sincere eyes, he smiled.

"I love you so much, you know that right?" He asked, as she looked up at him, leaning her forehead against his.

"What a coincidence, I love you too, so much." She replied, smiling when he leaned down, cupping her face with his hand and capturing her lips in his. They spent a few moments diving into each other and savouring the quiet but intimate moments. They barely for time alone together anymore.

When they pulled away, Lexi let out a content sigh. "I really love you, and I don't ever know how I got so damn lucky." She admitted, as they laid down together.

"I ask myself the same thing everyday." Sam agreed, pulling the covers over them, and letting Lexi snuggle into his side, as he wrapped his arms around her. "Guess we'll never know." He said after a few moments.

Frowning when he got no audible response, he looked down to see Lexi fast asleep in his arms. Sam chuckled, but kept her as close to him as possible. He was lucky. He didn't deserve all of this, but here he was. A dad to an adorable son, and a husband to the most amazing wife. It was a simplistic life, but he didn't need anything else to be happy and content.
