In bed that night I tossed and turned. Since my revelation about my feelings towards Ian I couldn't seem to be able to sleep. I tossed and turned in bed for hours. This was so wrong! I couldn't have feelings for him. I barely knew him!
I sighed and rolled out of bed, hearing the springs squeak as they readjusted themselves. I went to the kitchen to get a glass of water and stood on the back deck. The cold night air made goosebumps cover my skin. I took a sip of water and set the glass down on the railing.
When I looked back up, towards the woods, they're was something wrong. There wasn't anything there that I could see, but I felt something, or someone. I wasn't sure. I squinted into the night. Still I could see only darkness.
I climbed over the railing, still in shorts and a tank, and walked towards the woods. I stopped at the edge. My feet wouldn't go any further, like they knew something was out there to hurt me.
Then I saw him. Slight smile on his face, mocking me for being stupid enough to come out here, messy yet perfect hair, green eyes, and an all over look of pure menace. I hadn't ever seen this man before but I knew why he was here now. To kill me. He wasn't the same man as the one on campus, but I just knew he was working for him.
I started to back away slowly and swallowed hard. My throat and mouth were dry. Somehow I was sweating even though it was probably no more than twenty outside.
"Oh, c'mon. No need to be afraid of me." The conniving look in his eyes told me differently. He had an accent that I couldn't quite pin point. Russian, maybe.
"I'm not afraid of you," I surprised even myself at how steady and confident my voice was.
"Then lets stop and chat for a minute." He leaned against a tree like we were just two normal people having a conversation. "You know you won't hurt me even if I did try to hurt you. Now would you?" He raised an eyebrow at me. At least I thought he did. The only light I had to see from was coming from the moon.
I stopped backing away. I was not running from this again. "You sound pretty sure about that."
"Oh please," he scoffed as he took a step towards me. "You haven't even changed yet-" ohmygod he didn't know, one up for me, "-what could a measly little human do to me?"
"You'd be surprised what people have up their sleeves." I took a step to the side as he did the same. We were circling each other. I crouched a little. Just remember what Carolina said. Let the animal take over.
"Just give up. He's never going to stop you know? He's alway going to be trying to kill you." We stared each other down. I tried so hard to just let go, but nothing was happening. "Let's make a deal. If you let me kill you now, I'll make it quick an painless."
"I'll never give up." Again and again I tried. But again and again nothing happened. I was getting scared now.
"Your just like your mother. You want to make everything difficult. You really do want Scott to torture you, make you beg for death don't you?" An evil grin crossed his face. "Just like he did your mother."
That was it. That was push I needed. Anger swelled inside me and burst. Before I knew it I was standing in front of him on all fours, growling so loud I was sure all of Estonia could hear.
His eyes widened and he sputtered for a second before regaining himself. The look of fear in his eyes was the fuel I needed. I lunged for him, tackling him to the ground, snapping my jaws towards his neck. He was stronger than I had anticipated. He gave me a quick shove, throwing me against a tree. I jumped up and shook my head, attempting to clear it. When I looked up he wasn't there. I looked around and saw him out of the corner of my eye just in time for him to slam me to the ground.
