I woke to the sound of passing cars. It was dark, but there were bursts of light at even intervals. I realized they were street lamps and I was in a car. I jolted upright. "Where am I? I want to go home."
"Well your in luck, cause that's where we're going." I still didn't know the voice but I recognized it as the man who had been carrying me earlier.
"What are you talking about? Pull over. Let me out!" I was shouting. Not because I was mad, but because I was scared.
The man chuckled. "Whatever you wish master." He pulled to the side of the rode and stopped. I jumped out and heard Ian say "Aaron what are you doing?" I heard him get out and follow me.
"Go away Ian. I'm going back." I walked out into the middle of god only knows where.
"Alex you don't even know where you going, just stop." I ignored him and continued walking. "Alex stop!" He grabbed my arm and made me.
"I don't want to talk to you-"
"Then listen." He looked me in the eyes. "I can't protect you if you don't let me."
I started to cry again. "I don't need protection. I need the truth. And if what your saying is the truth then everything I've ever known is a lie."
I saw a sadness cross his face before he put a stern look on his face. He gripped my upper arm and pulled me towards the car. "My duty is to protect you and that is exactly what I'm going to do." He threw me into the back seat and told the man, Aaron, to drive.
"Ian please just tell me what's going on." He climbed over the seat and into the back with me.
"You have to promise to listen with no interruptions." I nodded. "When you were born, everyone knew that you were the person that would save your race."
"Then why send me here?"
"Because, until you reached full maturity you couldn't understand what was going on. And that man from today? He's been trying to kill out your kind for centuries and he knew that if he killed you, then there was no stopping him and his people. The only way to protect you was to send you here."
I closed my eyes and tried to comprehend all of this. "You keep saying my kind. Like your not part of that?" I looked up at him.
"That's because I'm not. I'm far from that." He looked away from me. "I'm like him. I'm a vampire." When he heard me gasp and felt me pull away he turned back toward me. "I'm not going to hurt you. I'm part of a select view that help protect you. I was sent with you when you were born to make sure nothing happened. To explain all of this when the man found you."
"You knew he was going to find me?"
"We all did. It was inevitable. It's his life's mission to kill you."
He continued to explain to me about the vampires. When I asked again about me he explained the werewolves. He told me that at certain times in history we could get along. We could protect one another. He told me about my real parents. After a long time I began to drift to sleep and he let me. I laid my head on his lap and slept. I dreamt of a life different from the one I had always known. One much scarier.
