Athena was scared

Athena was scared. Probably the most scared she had been since she and her family escaped Germany and HYDRA.

HYDRA had taken Artemis prisoner. The 107 had sent 200 hundred people in, and only 50 had returned, and Artemis was not a part of that 50 people. The moment Athena had found out, she had dragged Peggy and Howard with her to the camp that Artemis had previously resided.

Athena had arrived with Peggy and Howard in the rain. Upon seeing the stage erected in the middle of the camp, Athena had let a slight smile shift onto her face.

"Go speak to him," Peggy had instructed Athena upon seeing her face.

"What about Artemis," Athena tried weakly. She didn't know why she was so nervous to talk to him suddenly.

"Artemis would be annoyed that you used her as an excuse to not talk to him," Peggy told Athena, "nothing is going to happen to her in the time you are talking to Captain America."

Athena nodded her head before heading towards the back of the stage. Athena crept up behind Steve, wondering if there was still time to make a run for it. But upon seeing Steve where he sat drawing in a notebook, all thoughts of fleeing left Athena's head.

"Hello Steve," Athena called when she was behind Steve.

"Athena," Steve smiled turned around to look at Athena, "what are you doin' here?"

"I could ask you the same," Athena smiled, deflecting the question. Athena didn't want to tell him about her sister being taken just yet. She didn't want to darken a happy moment.

"I'm here to do my routine," Steve told her, "I had to improvise a little bit. Crowds I'm used to are usually more uh... twelve."

"Do you enjoy it?" Athena asked randomly, "you always seem to try to avoid it in your letters."

"Bond sales take a ten per cent bump in every state I visit," Steve told Athena.

"I didn't realise I was talking to Senator Brandt," Athena told Steve, giving him a stern look.

"At least he's got me doin' this," Steve shrugged, "Phillips would have had me stuck in a lab."

"You are meant for more than this. You are more than a lab rat or a dancing monkey," Athena told Steve looking at his drawing. "You are meant to follow your heart. That is why Vati and I picked you. We picked you because you had the best heart."

Steve sat in silence for a bit before finally admitting, "you know, for the longest time, I dreamed about coming overseas and being on the front lines, serving my country. I finally get everything I wanted, and I'm wearing tights."

Before she could say anything, they heard a honking. They both turned to see an ambulance come careening around the corner. Athena started forwards, but when she saw that the person getting out didn't have bright red hair, she deflated.
