"The best memories come from bad ideas done with best friends"
M.Mish
Athena swung her leg off Steves's motorbike as he extended his hand to her. Gripping the proffered hand, Athena smiled up at Steve. The two walked to where Thor and Saklauss led Loki.
If Athena was honest, she was just glad that the Tesseract was leaving earth. The power and temptation that the small box held were too dangerous to be left on earth. Athena watched as Eric Selvig and Bruce carefully transferred the cube to a device that could contain it.
When it was safely secure, Thor took it and returned to where he had left Loki. Saklauss was still holding onto Loki. A wary arm wrapped around his. Saklauss did not want to take any risks with him disappearing.
When the time for them to leave was upon them, Athena smiled at Saklauss. A look that told Saklauss that she wished her all the luck in where she was going. Saklauss returned the smile. A thank you for the thought, and a good luck to Athena. And with that, Thor twisted the handle of the container. Causing the three Asgaridns to disappear in a bright blue beam as they returned from whence they came.
When all the remains of the departure of the Asgardians had disappeared, Athena turned to Steve. A soft smile was playing on her lips. Placing a kiss on her forehead, Steve turned to Tony. Shaking his hand. A promise that whilst they were going their separate ways, they would come together again when the world needed them.
Athena turned instead to Natasha. Suddenly, she was pulling the redhead in for a hug. Athena murmured a quiet thank you in her ear. Natasha gently hugged her fellow redhead back. Parting, Athena got a nod from Clint before turning to Bruce and Tony as they prepared to climb into one of Tony's many sports cars. If the numberplate STARK 33 was any indication.
Pulling them both in for a hug, Athena promised them that was not the last she had seen of them and vice versa. She made them promise that they would spend time together as they helped her catch upon modern science. The boys promised before hopping in the car and disappearing. Athen smiled as she watched them leave. Athena then turned back to Steve, who was watching her with a soft smile on his face. Smiling back, Athena walked to where he was. Steve helped her onto the bike before then climbing on himself.
As Steve revved the engine, Athena wrapped her arms around his torso and rested her head between his shoulder blades. And the coupled out of time were happy. They were both where they needed to be and wanted to be. They had saved the world once again and were now comfortable in each other's arms.
