Coruscant's weather was not the most favorable this time of the year. Looking out the large window of my apartment, I frowned at the large droplets of rain trailing down the glass. I normally didn't mind the desolate Coruscant aura, however my favorite cuddle buddy was still working. Instead I had to rely on the warmth and comfort of one of my throw blankets on the couch. Hound normally was home around this time, however there seemed to be different situations that hindered him from coming home at a consistent time. Of course it stunk that there would be days where I would wake up and Hound would be face down, still in his armor, snoring away on our bed. Other times, I would wake up to find his dirty blacks in the hamper, letting me know that he must've been home for a short period of time before heading back to the Senate Building. Lots of times he would have to sleep in his barracks at the Senate Building, which is why I was so thankful for every night I got to see him.
Thankfully, this week he had been regularly home a couple hours after dinner time. I had begun to roll into the habit of plating his food after mine, or leaving whatever it was that I cooked on the stove to stay warm. Tonight I had gotten Hound's favorite takeout right before the rain started falling. I decided to wait and see if Hound would get home soon, so he didn't have to eat after me. I made the right decision because not long after I bundled up, I heard keys jangling against the front door. I quickly unraveled myself from the blanket and hopped towards the entrance. In entered Hound, his red and white helmet at his side. As soon as he saw me, a wide grin appeared on his face, the ends of his eyes slightly wrinkling. I pulled him into a big hug, before placing a kiss on his jaw.
"How was your day? I got us your favorite takeout." Hound somehow smiles wider at me.
"It was the normal, Fox with the same stick up his ass and Thire still sucking up to him to get a promotion. The usual." Hound sniffs the air and sighs contently, surely smelling his favorite dishes. "But this- this makes my day so much better, thank you." He kisses my forehead before we both let go to head towards the kitchen. Dinner was quiet and peaceful, just as Hound liked it. Ever since Hound and I moved in together, I noticed that he really enjoyed a little bit of quiet after retreating from the bustling streets of Coruscant. So, it was the norm to enjoy quiet small talk during dinner and relax in each others company before continuing with our nights. After dinner, we found ourselves basking in each others warmth on our couch. The holovid we were watching was a cheesy Rom-Com, cute, but I was slowly getting more and more tired. Hound's warmth and his soothing touch rubbing up and down by back made my eyes slowly droop. I dozed for a little bit before I felt two arms pick me up. I looked up to see Hound carrying me to our room. A soft smile was placed on his face. After placing me on my side of the bed, he went into the fresher to get ready for bed. I stripped off my sweatshirt and pants and got under the sheets. Hound walked out of the fresher and dove onto the bed. I laughed as he quickly pulled me onto his chest. I reached up and cupped his cheek in my palm. His scruff was growing a little bit longer than he normally had it, but I was having a field day with it. I pulled him in for a kiss before resting my head back on his chest.
"Hey." I look up at Hound. I hum, letting him know I was listening. "Today at work, Fox had offered me a new type of position on the Coruscant Guard. He had told me that we would be starting a new line of defense. Massiffs."
My eyes widened. "Woah, Massiffs? You would use them as guard dogs?"
"Kind of, think of them as those drug Loth cats you see on Lothal. Except, bigger, scarier, and cooler. Fox wants me to lead a squad of troopers with these Massiffs. But first, he wants me to own one myself before permitting the other troopers to get them. What would you think if I got one?" Hound looked at me, eager to hear my response.
"Those things are scary Hound, you think you'll be able to control them?"
"I think so.. If you don't want to deal with one of those running around the apartment, that's fine."
