"Love is a dagger. It's a weapon to be wielded far away..."

You were always adamant with your past relationships that you could never do long distance. Being worlds away from your family drove you apart, so why wouldn't it be the same with someone you were in a romantic relationship with? Thank the Maker Jesse had changed your mind. Jesse was perfect. You'll be completely transparent, you were extremely intimidated by Jesse when you first met him. You were new to Coruscant at the time, and up until you met Jesse, you had never seen real clone troopers in person. Watching them on the holotv for war promotions was different from being three feet away from one. You knew the soldiers by their iconic white armor and the big guns they carried. So when you saw the 6'2 man in blue streaked armor and a massive gray Republic insignia plastered on the helmet, you were in awe. You were especially hooked when he took off his helmet to introduce himself. Oh he was beautiful. His eyes were wide and graced with the most beautiful shade of amber. As your eyes travelled down to his nose and cheeks, you noticed small freckles splattered on him. He had a small cut on his lip, and his teeth were white and straight.

In all honesty, you were struggling the day you met him. Being the new medical intern, most of your jobs consisted running around and delivering medical supplies to the troops, you know, the menial stuff. You had been hauling two clunky boxes of bacta patches through the halls of a star destroyer called the Resolute. In your peripheral vision you could see troopers scrambling out of formation to avoid you stumbling down the halls with the two bins.

"Whoa there! You're going to take out my soldiers if you keep barreling through the halls like this." A voice had spoken, one you couldn't point to the owner. You set your boxes down to see a tall brown-haired man and two troopers beside him.

"Oh! I'm terribly sorry sir, I just need to run these down to the medbay before you guys get out of here. I'm not really wanting to get stuck on the ship after take off. I'm supposed to shadow a surgery in an hour." You the man smirks at you.

"That's understandable. I'm Anakin Skywalker, I try my best to keep things in order around here, so I'll make sure you get off this ship before we leave Coruscant." You smiled at the man gratefully.

"Sir, I can help her if she needs it." The trooper with the Republic insignia covered helmet nodded towards Anakin. You shot him a grateful smile. Anakin just nodded at you and him.

"Thank you sir. I'll be honest, I was struggling a bit with the boxes before you came here to save me. What's your name?"

The trooper hoisted a bin effortlessly on his shoulder while you grabbed the other. "Jesse, ma'am. Pleasure to meet you." You smiled at him before you and him started walking down the halls of the Resolute. And just like that, two strangers who never cared for each other, became the most inseparable couple, eyes full with stars of admiration, and hearts full of galaxies.

That memory was burned in you head along with several other moments you shared with your Jesse. Being far away from him was really difficult at first. You struggled to open up to him during the first couple of tours he completed when you first started seeing him. As uncomfortable you were in the beginning, Jesse was a rock, unmoving about his dedication and admiration he had for you.

Every night, not a day skipped, he would shoot you a text, or holo call with you. He didn't fail to express how he felt about you each night. Even when you were trudging through your late night shifts and couldn't text him, you would get home the following morning to see his comm icon pop up on your holopad. Jesse was the one doing all the grueling tasks, being the soldier he was, yet here he was worlds away comming a regular medical intern.

One night had been a particularly rough night for you. You had an opportunity to save a trooper from a wound, but you made the wrong call. Ultimately, the trooper lost his leg all because of your decision to proceed with a certain procedure. You had been hugging your pillow while talking with Jesse on the holocall. There were moments in your conversation where you could feel yourself thinking about the procedure, your eyes pricking up with tears. Jesse had noticed you staring and stopped talking about what Hardcase had told Ahsoka. "Hey," Jesse had murmured. "Tell me what's wrong. I'm here for you, always."
