"So..." Wanda didn't know what to say. She and the child were sitting across from each other on the floor of an empty room somewhere in the helicarrier. The child had insisted that they sat criss cross applesauce, or something.
"What have you been calculating?" she asked, trying to sound nice. She didn't know how the child would take to her, and it had been ten minutes since they first sat down. The kid was still calculating and scribbling something onto the clip board.
"I'm trying to see how long it will take for me to gain all of the knowledge of the universe." the child said without looking up.
Wanda stoped.
"What?"
She sweat dropped a little. How powerful was this kid?
"Yeah, I'm gaining all of the information of the universe. I already have about sixty nine percent and I just found out that it will take me five more minutes to gain the rest of the knowledge." the kid said, finally looking up. She smiled at Wanda and clasped her hands together in her lap. "But I still need to learn how to control my powers because the stones are idiots and apparently that information doesn't come with everything else." she said with her eye twitching a bit.
Wanda just looked at her worriedly.
"Um, okaaaayyyyy." she said somewhat scared. "How about we sit here for five minutes and do and say nothing. You'll be able to learn the rest of the knowledge of the universe, and I will wrap my head about what I'm going to teach you!" Wanda said with a stressed smile. She was very stressed at the moment and didn't want to think about how Loki had also handled the mind and space stones. She didn't know how he would handle a child coming to him for help with the stones powers.
"Okay!" the child chirped happily.
Wanda sighed internally with relief, but then furrowed her brows at how suddenly the child had spaced out. She would have to talk about that with Fury later.
————————————————————————
"Okay!" Wanda clapped her hands loudly. The child's gaze snapped straight up to Wanda's face.
"It's been about five minutes, and I know what I'm going to teach you! Have you gathered all of the information of the universe?" she asked cheerily. Wanda was acting like she had just gotten her whole life together, when in reality she just figured out what to teach the kid. And she was kind of...excited. She was gonna teach the kid how to control the mind stone powers. They both share the same power source, so maybe they would somehow bond or something.
The kid had wide eyes, probably because of the really loud noise Wanda made, but nodded her head in a yes gesture.
"Um, I did. Your world is pretty shitty, but I do like it's humor. Gen z is awesome. You have some chill music, the vegan teacher can go fuck herself, and vine is sadly dead." the kid said. Wanda understood about ten percent of what the kid just said.
"Cool." Wanda didn't have that good of a response for that, but cool was the best option to go by.
"Are you ready to learn about the mind stone?" she asked.
The kid just nodded her head yes.
"Alright. The mind stone is a beautifully complex thing. It gives me the power of telekinesis, energy manipulation, and some form of neuroelectric interfacing, which allows me to read people's minds and give them walking nightmares. For learning how to control your powers, you will try to do each of these things, and practice them for a while. It took me awhile to get the hang of them." Wanda explained. The kid nodded along with her words when she was speaking. (There will be no witch training because Wanda hasn't found out that she's a witch yet. In this story, the kid will not be a witch.)
"So let's start off with something simple. Try to read my mind." Wanda paused for a moment, in thought. "But before you do, have you been hearing anything that everyone else hasn't?" she asked kindly.
The kid paused and thought for a moment.
"Yeah, I have. It's like a staticy mumbling that's really low, but I always hear it." the kid said.
Wanda smiled. "I used to hear that too. I didn't know what it was until I was able to read minds. Your hearing people's thoughts and the many noises surrounding you. I can only imagine how sharp your hearing is." Wanda said. The kid made an o shape with her mouth, as if realizing that that was a perfect explanation.
"So, back to training. Try to read my mind. From there, we'll go up to the harder powers to control." Wanda said.
The kid nodded and furrowed her brows, looking very focused.
After a few seconds, Wanda noticed that the kids hands had started to twitch. With out the kid realizing it, one of her hands came up and a soft yellow color started to swirl around her hand. She flicked her wrist and Wanda's head felt like an open book.
"You're thinking-no, wondering why there's yellow mist surrounding my ha - oh my god there's yellow stuff surrounding my hand!" the kid exclaimed. She practically jumped out of her skin and she started to smack her hand against herself. "How do I get it off?!" she asked Wanda frantically. She shook her hand as if it would help get the yellow stuff off.
Wanda chuckled lightly. "Just relax, it'll go away by itself. Deep breaths." she instructed.
The kid calmed down and took deep breaths. She still had her hand up and Wanda could see that the yellow swirls were going away.
"Okay. You can open your eyes now." she said. The kid had closed her eyes and was still taking deep breaths.
The kid opened one eye and saw that the yellow swirls had disappeared completely. She breathed out once more.
"What the hell was that?" she questioned scarily. She had an aura that told Wanda that if she didn't give a good enough explanation, she would make her. She was scared and didn't know what was happening. That would be terrifying.
Wanda swallowed fearfully. She didn't think that a kid could be so scary.
"I-I think that you unconsciously did that. I think you were trying to control your power more and hone it into a smaller power source. I do the same thing." she said. She brought up her hands and started to form a small red ball of power. She made it become bigger and eventually she had a glowing red ball in her hands.
The kid stared at it in wonder, her horrifying aura now vanished. Her eyes were wide and her pupils were big, as if she were high off of anesthesia. She looked like a little kid watching fireworks.
"Okay, now that's awesome." the kid said, grinning and looking up and meeting Wanda's eyes.
Wanda smiled at her. Maybe this kid wouldn't be so scary after all.
"Before we continue, have you learned any names that you like and may want to keep as your own?" Wanda asked the kid. She couldn't keep calling her child or kid in her mind. It would drive her mad.
The kid thought for a moment.
"Well...I do like the name Nova." she said suggestively. She sounded as if she wanted Wanda's approval.
Wanda smiled at her.
"Nova. What a nice name. It suits you." Wanda said.
The kid beamed at her and looked very happy.
"Now then," Wanda said. "Shall we continue?"
