"I need her to be prepare for that sadistic psychopath." Wanda glanced at Thor. "No offense."
Thor, who had his arms crossed, didn't look very offended. "None taken." he said with a genuine smile.
"Now now, do we really need Loki to teach the kid stuff about the stones?" Tony asked.
Wanda just looked at him with a 'really' look.
"Yes, we do. Loki was one of the only people here that had the space stone. And he used the mind stone too." Wanda explained. A lot of people had used the mind stone, but information from all of them might help Nova control that power better. Wanda could only think of three people who use or used the mind stone's power. Herself, Vision, and Loki.
"It's true that Loki had the space stone, but did he ever really use it?" Thor asked.
All of the avengers stopped and thought about that for a minute.
Did Loki ever actually use the space stone?
"Um, excuse me." Tony said. "Does no one remember the giant portal that was open in New York?"
Murmurs of, "oh yeah", or, "I forgot about that", were heard from everyone.
Tony looked around, bewildered that he was surrounded by such stupid people.
"Oooo. Portals." Nova said. Some of the avengers flinched when they heard her voice, having forgotten that she was still there.
They looked at her as she zoned out and stared into nothing. She still had the yellow mist swirling in her hand.
Wanda just glanced at her worriedly. This tiny child had been made only over a week ago, and she still somehow has been able to keep herself together. Being very powerful must take a toll on her. Or she deals with it like a teenager. Bottle up the feelings and express her deep senses of dread through humor. She should probably get her a therapist.
"Oookayyy." Wanda said. "We should probably get back to training and stuff sooooo...bye." She abruptly turned on her heel and grabbed Nova's arm and tugged her along.
"Now hang on there." Steve said with his hand outstretched. Wanda was not about to disappear with the kid again.
"We all think," he turned and made a gesture to everyone. "that we should know where you're going. And, I think that someone should be with you two. Just to make sure you're safe and that no more fires happen."
Wanda glanced at him tiredly. She could really kick his ass if she wanted to. But....Vision looked worried, and twitchy. As if he were really worried about her. She supposed that it wasn't that bad of an idea. Letting someone stay with them and watch over them. Like a fucking babysitter. Shit.
"Fine. Who wants to stay with us first?" she asked.
All of the avengers raised their hands.
Wanda licked the inside of her top lip. You know, that thing that girls do when they're mad.
"I guess all of you can come for now. Just stay quiet, and try to keep up." she said as she stormed away from the briefing room.
The avengers had to jog to keep up to her.
And not more than twenty seconds later, Wanda had to power walk back to grab the kid and drag her along with them.
————————————————————————
"So. You want to know what I have taught her so far?" Wanda clarified. She wasn't exactly mad at her friends, but....she liked it a lot better when it was just her and the kid. It was kind of nice being alone with someone as different as Nova. It was like having a child of her own.
They had also all moved to another room. One that wasn't charred and smelled like burnt beans. The avengers were all standing or leaning on the farthest wall, to the left of the room's door. Wanda and Nova were in front of them. Them two, facing all of the avengers.
"Yes, we do." Tony said. He wanted to see just how powerful the kid was. How dangerous she was.
"Fine." Wanda felt as if Tony didn't trust her to teach the kid. She would show him.
She pointed at Natasha. "She is one of the most deadly and hard to open up people. It's a struggle for even me to get a few of her thoughts. Read her mind." She looked at Nova expectedly, but not in a bad or harsh way.
Nova turned towards Natasha, and her whole peaceful aura dropped completely.
She now had a darker aura and her eyes seemed to sharpen and they grew smaller.
She brought up her wrist slowly and yellow mist started to swirl like a little tornado in the palm of her hand. It spread to her forearms and swirled around it. She flicked her wrist ever so slightly, and Natasha tensed up.
The avengers could see Natasha try to catch her breath and watched as she brought a hand up to her head. Natasha slowly looked up to see Nova staring at her dead in the eyes.
As if something popped, or clicked, Nova's dark aura lessened. Her eyes went a little back to normal and her wrist dropped ever so slightly.
"Huh." she said, staring at Natasha. "That's new."
The yellow mist became more intense and traveled up Nova's arm and to her neck. Her aura darkened even more and her eyes became smaller and more intense. She flicked her head to the side, as if listening to someone. At the same time, Natasha fell to her knees and her breathing got heavier. Bruce knelt down next to her and put his hand on her back.
"Nat! Are you okay? Wanda, what is that kid doing? Make her stop!" he shouted.
"Nova." Wanda said, turning to look at her.
Nova wasn't moving. Her head was still tilted, and she looked like she was paying very intense attention to something. It didn't even look like she was breathing.
"Nova." Wanda tried again, but this time, she clapped her hand down onto Nova's shoulder.
Nova's eyes widened in a surprised way, and she took a sharp breath of air. Her arm dropped and the yellow mist disappeared. She blinked and looked at Wanda.
"What's wrong?" she asked in an innocent way. As if she didn't remember, or rather she didn't think that what she just did was...bad? It looked like it hurt Natasha, but it also looked like it didn't. Natasha was still on her knees, but her breathing was even and she looked less scared.
"What the hell was that!" Bruce shouted. He stood up from where he was crouched down next to Nat and he charged forward towards Nova and Wanda. "What did you do to her." he said. He was now standing right in front of Nova. She did something to Nat. Bruce was sure if it.
"Well..." Nova rubbed the back of her neck. "I started to read her mind, but then I also started to see pictures?" she said in a voice that sounded like she was questioning herself.
"I saw this weird red room, and a dirty hospital? There were also ballerinas and an uptight woman." she said.
Clint sucked in a shocked breath. "No..." he said just quiet enough for only himself to hear.
Wanda looked at Nova, confused and adrenaline rushed.
"I think you went into her memories." she breathed out.
This was strange. Nova was strange. But she was also powerful. Powerful enough to make one of the most deadliest assassins fall to their knees.
"Well, add that to the list of things she can do." Sam said, breaking the tension.
Nova nodded at him. She pulled a small notebook form out of nowhere, and scribbled something down onto it.
The avengers just deadpanned at her. Seriously. What the fu-
"Never again." Natasha said. She stood up and made her way out of the room.
"Nat!" Bruce shouted, following her.
Nova just stared off at them.
"Who wants to see me light another can of beans on fire again?"
The avengers groans turned into shouts and screams as Nova started another fire.
