Beyoncé

I've been standing at the door handing this week's orders.

Megan sits watching me tentatively from the bed. Since she met up with her lawyer, shits been off. I'd hate to find that she might be doing years. I lean my back on the doorway and look back at her. She smiles at me and my stomach drops.

Adrien came to me in my dream either the night before last night or the night before that.

It's my time to search for happiness in another. I'm allowed to. I'm paying for my sins on the side though.

When Adrien was here I learned quickly to take whatever she said to heart. The woman never backtracked on anything and whatever she said was the (harsh) truth.

The last girl leaves and I stand there still staring at her. By now she's looking off into the distance. Something's definitely wrong.

"Megan." I call out.

"Yeah?" She looks up at me on the verge of tears.

Shit. I move to stand in front of her on the bed. She looks up to me like she's silently pleading.

"What's wrong girl?"

She shakes her head, "I might be legally fucked."

I arch my brow in confusion, "Huh?"

She looks down. Please Lord don't tell me this girl is spending years in here.

"My ex got me a shitty lawyer and she ain't give me any hope. She said even if I plead not guilty I'm gonna have to spend some amount of years."

Both of us just stare back at each other for a few moments. We both know Megan should not be here.

My heart clenches for a girl I barely even know like that.

I'm helping her, I don't mind.

"Hey I can find you a new one."

She looks up again.

"Yeah."

The least I can do is make sure she gets closer to justice.

"Thanks." She says.

Her hands move weirdly and I smile seeing some relief on her face.

"No problem girl, I just want things to work out for you."

For a second I can tell she's processing this and I sit down on my bed.

"Just—- thank you, Beyoncé, thank you, thank you, thank you."

"You're welcome, Megan." I say.

"I swear imma come visit you."

My chest clenches a bit, "You don't have to, Megan. Stay away from here, live your life."

"Naw, you a real one. You just helped me so much with this."

I'm left speechless. What the hell is this girl doing to me?

____

Got a hold of my lawyer for Megan and she's meeting with him now. I know he'll help but I'm still anxious for her fate, legally that is.

For the first time ever I make my way to the tables just outside my cell door. The other inmates watch me and get out my way. I sit on the table and rest my feet on the seat, hunching over.

It's in this position that I realize I've been frozen in time and this prison has evolved on it's own. What is this girl doing to me?

A few eyes are on me I can tell and for the first time in forever, I keep my glaring to myself. It's not a secret anymore, Megan is doing something to me. She's to me what I was for Adrien. I totally get it now.

The doors to my block open and I see Higgins and a few other officers with inmates. Megan amongst them. The tall girl smirks and I make it back to my cell. If I get caught slipping I'd rather do in private.

Megan shows up at the doorway and embraces me. It catches me off guard but it's appreciated. I haven't even gotten a hug from Kelly. I take this moment and enjoy it as much as possible, rolling my back to the wall so we're less seen.

"Went good, huh?" I pull away with my hand around her waist.

It's now hitting me how tall she is, how soft her skin is, how good she smells even with the plain bar soap we use.

"Yeah, perfect. I'll be out of here by the end of the year. Thank you, Beyoncé."

"No problem."

I bring her close again. By now I can hear the shocked gasps outside the door as we aren't fully concealed. I'm careful to not let myself get too carried away.

Swear her arms feel perfect around my shoulders. She hums into my neck and I nearly cry both from seeing her have a shot of getting out and having physical, one on one, human affection for the first time in nearly 9 years. I feel tears on my shoulder and mine flow as well.
