Chapter One: Triple Threat
"Hey Rachel" said a blonde hippie girl I passed.
"Hey" I said politely.
"How's it going Rachel?" said a brunette band girl I passed.
"Couldn't be better" I replied giving her a smile.
"Looking good Rach!"
"Thanks Bobby" I said laughing and shaking my head at him.
My name is Rachel Robyn Williams, I am 17 years old, a senior in high school, and considered one of -if not the- most popular girl at Ridgeway High. However, I don't like to think of myself that way. I mean sure, I try to get along with everyone, and for the most part they treat me the same way. Whether its because of who I am, or who my parents are, I don't know , but as long as I make an effort to show them who I am outside of my family I feel like they can look at me for me.
"So Rachel, how about you let me take you out after the game tonight, you know we'll probably win with me being the quarterback and all" said Bobby with his super-sized ego and a side of famous smirk on his face.
"Sorry Bobby" I said with a trace of amusement, " you of all people know that I spend Friday night with my girls, considering you ask me every Friday". I murmured that last part and I was half-glad half-upset that he didn't hear it. Bobby's a nice guy, but he tries too hard and besides, I may love football but I am sooo not a quarterback type of girl.
"Yeah, I know , it never hurts to ask though! Speaking of your girls, here they come now."
Sure enough, when I turned to look over my shoulder I saw the best friends a girl could ask for walking towards me.
"Hey Rachel" said Brooklyn Bridges -funny name right- she is my half Latino half white best friend.
"Hey Ray" said Jasmine Ford , my other best friend said , who is mixed with some of everything.
"Hey ladies" I responded with a genuine smile on my face.
"Yes, hellooo ladies" Bobby cut-in with a cocky smirk on his face.
"Hey Bobby , don't you have to go see coach this morning for a team meeting about the game tonight?" asked Jasmine.
"Oh shit, see you later girls!" Bobby said hurriedly as he sprinted away from us.
When he left all three of us let out the laughter we had been holding back. Coach Simmons isn't an unfair man or a hardass coach. No, he's pretty fair, depending on what you define as fair! He doesn't tolerate tardiness or slacking of any kind , and if he catches you not performing to the best of YOUR ability then he will be sure to come up with a punishment to the best of HIS ability. The last time a player was caught being late to practice he had to do suicides the length of the practice field, which is as big as the regular playing field, for half of the 3 hour practice and the last half he had to do pull ups from the goal post. Needless to say, every player tried his best to be his best whenever it came to Coach Simmons.
