We knew the army was coming, we were preparing our defenses for the coming onslaught of orcs, goblins, and who knows what else.
"Get those catapults into position!" I called to several soldiers, who saluted.
I was the kings general, as such my duty was to keep this city and it's people safe.
"Archers! Twelve of you wait above the gate doors at each one, while the rest wait to replace them!" they saluted as I scratched my ear, a cat ear to be precise.
I was and still am part cat, making me a weird choice for a general. My kind weren't exactly trusted for there seriousness.
The king received controversy for that, but he wasn't exactly sane...
"Oi! Trizin!"
*Speak of the devil* I thought and turned around
"Yes sire?"
"As this is my city, I'll be the one to see to the defenses." he said proudly
"Sir, with all due respect-"
"Hold it Trizin, I know what I want."
I bowed reluctantly "yes sire.."
"Now I'll handle this, you see to some of the men's morale problems"
I walked away and onto the wall. overlooking the city, this wall, about 10 feet thick, went in a circle around said city.
The castle was surrounded by the rest of the city, which spread out to the walls.
There were three gates to get into the city, one main one, and two side ones.
*i hope that king knows what he's doing...* I thought worried
