"I'll need men on both sides of each gate, hidden, with more in front of said gate. that way if they brake through you can surprise the ones entering, all while the archers pick then off" I said to my new generals, Berethor the human, Elrond the elf, And Ulrhic the half Orc
"Yes sir" they replied and ran to give the orders
I had told the army that the assassin succeeded in killing the king, and that he appointed me to take care of it all. They accepted this, and I chose these three as my associates
*Perfect, now we just have to get through this battle* I thought as I heard the battle horns
"Ready men, protect yourselves, your friends and your family today, and just remember, Orc skin looks great on a wall." I said to the five near me, my three generals, and two soldiers
They nodded as the barrage from enemy catapults began. We fired back and forth for several hours, until the wave of orcs reached the walls and gates
While some tried breaking through the gate, others used makeshift ladders to climb up the walls. I was on top of the wall nearest to the main gate.
The others and I ran to knock down ladders and kill those that made it up
Two made it and as they did so I ran my sword through one, using his body to push the other off the wall
Berethor decapitated one, while kicking a ladder down. Elrond ran two through with his twin swords. And Ulhric just chopped them in half with battle axes
It was running smoothly until a lightning bolt killed one of the soldiers near me
"They have mages!" yelled out another soldier
"Really? Thought it was a weird weather pattern!" I yelled back as I dodged a bolt of lightning
This, and one of the gates was breaking, meaning the fight would start to get uglier. The archers were doing there best, and bodies surrounded the outside of the gate.
"Drop red potions on them!" I yelled while parrying an orcs sword thrust, ending in the loss of his leg
It was a risk, if they dropped one too close to the gate, it would blow it open, something to avoid.
The explosions thundered as I threw my dagger at an Orc, hitting him in the forehead thus killing him.
As I saw the advancing horde I thought *we're screwed unless we get a miracle here, Trion needs to get here* In preparation for the attack, we had called for reinforcements. Accepting the call, Trion was to be there soon.
The sword fighting continued as one if the gates fell under the weight of a ogre.
It lumbered in as orcs streamed through the gate. As they did so the men waiting on the sides engaged there surprise attack on the stream
"Someone needs to kill that ogre, it's heading for the other gates!" Berethor yelled
I ran and jumped off the wall and onto it's shoulders. barely phased it shook a bit as if bothered by a fly.
*Things only 12 feet tall and it acts like I'm harmless* I thought
I showed it differently by slitting its throat. it fell with a surprised gurgle of blood
I jumped off and watched the orcs advance in. I ran towards them but was blocked by a figure dropping in front of me
