Along the edge of the forest stood a grand and beautiful waterfall with two cliffs on each side. Below the waterfall was a fairly large river, and [Name] and Izuna stood across from each other, each wielding a weapon of their choice. [Name] looked at her opponent with adamant eyes and breathed in deeply. This was her perfect chance to walk out of her marriage without any issues, and she was determined to win this battle no matter what.

"Whoever decides to quit, collapses, or gets pinned down first will be the ultimate loser. Are you ready?" asked Izuna as he reached for his katana from his belt.

[Name] nodded and slipped on her black gloves and at his signal, they began their fateful fight. Izuna rushed at [Name] with incredible speed on the water, and immediately clashed his katana with one of [Name]'s kunai blades. There was no time to panic or flinch, and [Name] found herself struggling to keep his blade away from slicing her face.

[Name] eventually removed herself away from Izuna's blade by jumping backwards, and she threw the remaining kunai blades at him while she was in the air. As Izuna deflected each of the kunais with his katana, [Name] was able to weave hand signals to form her first jutsu.

"Katon: Gokayuku no Jutsu!" she announced as she sucked in air and gathered her chakra in her mouth.

[Name] effortlessly released flames from her mouth and formed it into a massive fireball, making it run over the clear water of the river. As the fireball made its way to her main target, Izuna activated his kekkai genkai: the Sharingan. He managed to dodge her jutsu just in time, but then felt the touch of a hand on his shoulder from behind.

With one hand on Izuna's shoulder, [Name] used her arm strength to push and lift her body and dominant leg over his shoulder to successfully kick his katana away. Before she could cut Izuna with her hidden kunai, Izuna grabbed the back of her shirt and kicked her away towards the open water.

"Damn it, I didn't think he would have the guts to go on full force with me!" she thought as she skidded through the water to stop herself from going further.

The two fought for many hours, each determined to win against the other. Their wishes were at stake, and none of them ever dreamed of admitting their defeat. As time went by, so did their precious chakra and energy.

[Name] rose from her crouching position and hastily formed more hand signs to send another jutsu at Izuna.

"Katon: Karyu Endan!" shouted [Name] as she spewed out bright flames that shaped into a majestic and fierce fire dragon.

With his Sharingan, Izuna was able to perfectly copy the same jutsu, and watched as the two fire dragons collided into each other. [Name] wasn't exactly frustrated yet, but she quickly drew her immense black kama* from her belt and rushed towards him with the intentions of injuring him.

As [Name] ran towards him, Izuna grabbed shuriken from his bag and threw all of them at her. With her experience, the Blazing Beauty dodged and blocked the tremendous amount of flying shuriken with her kama, but felt one scrape her cheek.

[Name] gasped as a fine line formed across her cheek with a small amount of blood seeping from the cut. She felt the stinging pain from it as the cold air mixed with her blood, and Izuna caught sight of it too. His calm facial expression suddenly turned into one filled with worry, and her tiny injury made him frown with displeasure.

A good shinobi would never show their emotions during a fight, but it was slightly different for Izuna this time. He was fighting against his lover and although he wanted to win, he personally didn't want to give her any injuries, not even the smallest ones.

[Name] raised her kama and leaped  high into the air, spinning downwards as she prepared to swing them at Izuna. As she came closer to him, she gritted her teeth together and was about to throw one end of her chained kama at him until she felt a strong hand grip her wrist. [Name]'s eyes widened with disbelief as Izuna pulled her down, and yanked and threw her kama away into the falling waters of the waterfall.

She glared at him for throwing away her main weapon, and instead of receiving one herself, she met the soft gaze of his eyes instead. Even though his crimson Sharingan was activated, [Name] was surprised to see a gentle look from him. To her, it was strange to see Izuna doing something unnatural like that during a serious battle.

"Umm...Izuna?" she asked nervously.

With his hand holding [Name]'s wrists in place, Izuna took the opportunity to caress and wipe away the blood from the cut on her cheek with the side of his finger. It was as if he didn't care if the blood dripped down to his other fingers at all; he just wanted to be able to touch [Name] romantically again. [Name] noticed how reluctant he was to continue the fight, and she turned her head away from his touch.

Before she could make her next move, Izuna slid his hand under [Name]'s chin and grabbed it. He forced her to look into his eyes, and by the time [Name] realized what was going on, she was caught in his genjutsu.

"Tch...I can't break out of it..."

[Name] found herself in a different dimension where the sky was not blue, but a deep bloody red color. Everything around her was pure black, and she bit her bottom lip as she walked around what used to be known as the "forest".

"Calm down, [Name]. This is only a genjutsu..." she muttered to herself.

Out of nowhere, [Name] faced several dark figures who she recognized as her enemies that she had fought in the past. One of them quickly tackled her into the ground and pinned her down with its arms. Another one chuckled darkly and gripped onto [Name]'s neck with both of its hands.

"[Name]...you are such a fool...go to hell!" shouted the dark figure as it tightened its grip on [Name]'s neck.

[Name] felt her breath become short and she desperately gasped for air. As the other dark figures approached her, she felt them poking her with their kunai blades. Each stab in her body turned into a deeper gash, and [Name] swore that she could hear the maniac laughter of Misaki ringing through her ears. It felt like days went by instead of hours as she cried out for help.

Suddenly, a burning sensation of Tsubaki's chakra and life force jabbed [Name]'s side, and she was free from Izuna's torturous genjutsu. Once she came back to reality, the chakra in her feet moved away towards her chest, and she fell underwater.

"[Name]!!!" shouted Izuna as he stripped himself of his shirt and shoes and forced his chakra flow to disappear from his feet. Without another second to waste, Izuna dived into the icy water to save a weak-willed [Name].

When the two ninjas finally made it to the surface of the water, Izuna swam with [Name] to the shallow ends and carried her bridal-style once he was able to stand on the sand underwater.

[Name] violently coughed up the river's water and gasped for some needed oxygen. If it wasn't for Tsubaki's chakra sealed inside her body, she would have been in Izuna's genjutsu for a longer time. [Name] coughed some more and beckoned Izuna to put her down, but he only ignored her request.

"Are you alright, now? Are you hurt anywhere?" he asked with anxiousness.

"I'm perfectly fine. Just set me down now, I don't need your help anymore." she said through her series of coughs.

"I hope you realize that you have lost our fateful fight, [Name]." he declared with a modest smile.

[Name] sighed and shivered as she felt a breezy wind blow her soaking-wet hair. "I know I did, and I'll accept it..."

"Let's get out of the water. I'm afraid you'll catch a cold at this rate," he said as he slowly walked towards land.

Even though [Name] despised Izuna, there was a part of her that made her yearn for his gentleness and lovely doings in her heart. She rested her head against his bare chest and closed her eyes, relieving the fact that  maybe ignorance was a bliss.

As Izuna set her down onto the dry sand, he quickly ran to a tree branch to fetch his purple cloak. [Name] sat with her knees to her chest, and felt Izuna wrap his cloak around her. She turned to look up at him and saw his familiar and noticeable toned abs and arms.

"Izuna, where is your shirt? And where are your shoes too?" she inquired with a slightly flustered face.

"They would have been a hindrance to me when I was trying to save you from drowning." he answered as he sat next to her on the sandy grounds.

There was an awkward silence between the two of them for awhile and [Name] sheepishly tugged onto Izuna's cloak to hide her blushing cheeks.

"Thank you for rescuing me then..." she murmured quietly before dropping her gaze down to the sand.

Izuna smiled at this and leaned forward towards her ear. "I wouldn't have been able to live if I lost you, [Name]." he said with a chuckle.

[Name] averted her eyes away from his mischievous look and pushed her wet hair back. The sun was starting to warm her body up and she felt a little better too.

"Are you ready to hear what I have to say to you now?" he asked.

[Name] nodded and rested her head on the side of her shoulder. "Yes, I am. You may tell me whatever you have to say now."

Izuna delightfully smiled at her as he stretched out his legs in front of him.

"Well then, I guess I would like to start on what really occurred yesterday."
