Monday 7:30 am
A new morning opened in my windows, Spring breeze was speaking to the trees as they danced to the rhythm of the wind with its movements back and forth and there was so much lazy sweetness in my heart. I really managed to wake up and got ready. I went down to the dining room and my phone beeped...
Yusef: Where are you guys? I am already there!
Zerina: Yeah, I am leaving home now. Will catch you about in 15 minutes.
Me: Hey, I am still packing my lunch and yet to have my breakfast!
But there was no reply from Lewis. Guess what? He was sleeping!
YES. It was our first day of school!
I heard footsteps coming down the stairs and soon Juliette appeared in the dining hall "Good morning" and she told me to pack a chocolate drink and, a cookie with slices of bread with my favorite spread for my lunch. Then my mom and dad came together, and my mom asked me "Are you ready for your first day of school?" with her delighted voice, "Well, yes I am but a little nervous".
"You'll be fine. If you need anything just try to find Juliette, Sacha, or Michiel and they will definitely help you". It was so nice of her to say that to me and it actually calmed me down, probably because I knew I had them If I was in need.
Juliette and I biked to school earlier than Michiel and Sacha because we had class at 9 am. I was sure that I need to memorize the route but it was really cold in the morning and I hardly managed to bike and reached the school. It took 15 minutes for me to reach school on the first day and after some days when I got used to the route, I was able to reach there in 10 minutes.
We went in to park our bikes. A few stared at me but I was not really surprised and I'll tell you why. I am a dusky-skinned girl and anyone can spot me as an exchange student easily because most of the Dutch are fair and pale-skinned with brown and blonde hairs. Juliette walked in fast and I followed her looking around the campus. The ambiance was calm, spacious with good amenities and utilities in a visually appealing landscape. The school was with enough lighting, useful facilities. There was even a separate locker for her to place jerkins/overcoats. I had seen that in films but I was still surprised when she told me to put my jerkin in.
Well, then Juliette took me to the reception room, and there, I found Yusef and Zerina waiting for us. We had no one around in the classroom. Lewis joined us, later. He was not late for school but the last one to meet. Our co-ordinator Mrs. Marieke and Mr. Beek entered the classroom and asked "How's school, you liking it?" Again, we were just clueless and don't even remember how we came to this classroom. It was the biggest school I've ever been to, with too many blocks, well planned with good architectural features, supporting facilities, good ventilation in all the classrooms and two massive parking lots for both students and faculties unlike in India.
