Monday 7:00 AM
It was the morning following Duncan Lawrence's Eurovision victory with his song 'Arcade.'
The alarm clock sat as a happy companion to my bed, the friend who shook me gently by the shoulders at sun up. But this morning, each sole into the street, each soul riding into the clouds, was ever warm in that bright sunlight. I got ready for the day and went to the dining hall to pack my lunch for school earlier than usual.
As I sat down, there was so much to appreciate. Clouds kept moving into the sky, kissing the brilliant white of the sun. They moved together yet were independent. Gaps widen and close, one slides right under another and they always change their shape. With the google map, my host mom showed me the route to school and another way to school also. She added that it wouldn't rain anymore and the temperature was 25°C. Juliette later came down, ate and we left home.
Juliette and I rode our bikes gently to school. There was a dinosaur park on our way to school and some kids from school arrived for a picnic. The kids, as they got down from the bus, enjoyed the playful light, dinosaur statues, and the soft grass. I smiled as I glanced at them because it reminded me of a day when I went on a picnic with my friends at school. It was one of the things we always looked forward to. We arrived at school, parked our bikes, and continued to our room.
As soon as we all gathered together, we proceeded with our classes as scheduled. We created presentations for our upcoming travels and delivered them to the coordinators. For the week, we had physics, English, and chemistry classes. All of the classes were enjoyable and intriguing. We were not tired and bored in class even for a second. We always kept talking and having fun among ourselves.
But, we missed the sight and aroma of Indian food!
It was our lunch break, and we didn't want to eat the burgers. We wanted to try something hot because we were used to eating spicy cuisine. We ate our packed lunch but the vivid colors of the food did not speak to its freshness and had nothing planned for the following four hours. We talked for a while, but it got dull after about 15 minutes, so Lewis and I sat embracing our knees as Yusef and Zerina began using their phones.
