"W-what are you talking about? I snuck into his hotel room remember," I ducked my head, pretending to be embarrassed, but my head was spinning.
How the hell does he know? Oh he must have seen our mouthed conversation, oh crap. UM, um act cool Ellie, I thought desperately. Crap, crap, crap!
"Please, I saw your mouthed conversation," he scoffed, giving me a knowing look. I looked hopelessly between them but was saved from answering when Jakob called out. I sighed in relief and quickly beckoned him over. I saw Andrew frown and apparently Jakob did too.
"I can go if you want," He offered, looking at me curiously. Probably wondering what we're taking about, I thought. I cringed at the idea and grabbed onto his leg.
"NO," I shouted, maybe a little too loudly. Seeing Jakob's surprised look I tried again. Tiny glanced up at me curiously but then sagged back against me.
"I mean, you don't have to go, why you would think you have to go I don't know. There is absolutely no reason for you to go, stay right here, join in the conversation" I babbled, pulling him down next to me.
"She's hiding something," Jakob stage whispered to Andrew and Julie. I rammed my elbow into his side and he wheezed and moved away.
"I'm not hiding anything, why would you think I'm hiding something," I muttered, twirling a strand of hair around my finger. Dam, I suck at lying.
"It is something," Andrew insisted, "he hasn't been acting the same since he saw you." I coughed and Jakob gasped beside me.
"Oh my god, do you like each other?" Jakob asked. My eyes bulged and I looked at him.
"Jakob, think about what you just said," I explained, looking at him. He paused and then nodded to himself.
"Yeah that's what I thought," I muttered.
"What? That could be what's going on," Julie asked, looking between us. I didn't bother answering, not wanting to explain.
"Nope, Ellie has relationship phobia's," Jakob snorted. I rolled my eyes at how dramatic he was.
"That's bullshit Jakob," I muttered, fighting off the blush I could feel rising.
"Really?" Julie asked.
"No, I'm not afraid of relationships...I'm not afraid of anything really. But I find relationships pointless," I explained. Andrew and Julie both looked at me, and I felt like patting my head to see if there was another reason they were staring at me.
"okay it's not that unusual," I exclaimed, shaking my head. I saw them smirk and then Andrew turned serious again.
"Please, tell us what's really going on. We're your friends, friends don't keep secrets," he said earnestly, looking into my eyes with a hurt expression. I narrowed my eyes.
"Don't spout that crap with me. Yes friends technically shouldn't lie but we've only met for like one weekend," I said giving him a hard look.
"Yeah she still doesn't tell me everything, and she attempts to lie," he smirked. I slapped his arm, and he shoved me back.
"You have to tell us, this could be important," Ashley said. I scrunched my face up, not knowing what to do. I stood up and Andrew grabbed my wrist not allowing me to move. I tugged on it but he refused to give.
"Noo," Jakob shouted dramatically. Suddenly Tiny and Jack were standing beside me, growling at Andrew, hackles raised. Andrew quickly released my hand, throwing it back to me. I nodded to him and he moved back a bit. I knelt down with a hand on either dog and they slowly relaxed under my hands.
Nobody spoke so I started laughing.
"You should see your faces," I gasped. They all sat with stunned looks on their faces except Jakobs who was amused like me.
"Your dog was going to kill me!" Andrew whispered, his face still pale from before.
"yah, that's what happens when people threaten her," Jakob chuckled.
"I've nearly been mauled six times," he added thoughtfully. Julie was sitting just behind Andrew, as if to protect herself and I laughed.
"Ellie, we still need to know what happened between you and Adam," Julie insisted.
"No, you don't. If he wanted you to know he would have told you himself," I snapped. I gripped Jack and Tiny's collar, to calm myself down, and I knew they could feel my tension.
"We know your not telling the truth. But can you give us a hint?" Andrew asked. Before I could speak he was talking.
"Is it something to do with his past?" he asked quickly. I calculated it in my head and decided to tell them a bit.
"Okay this is all I'll tell you. Adam and I met a while ago and I helped him out. There happy!"
Andrew shook his head, "not remotely."
