I sat against the wall my head between my knees. Slowly the pain started to fade away and i slumped in relief. Ten minutes later and i couldn't feel anything and i felt my head, amazed that it could have caused me so much pain. I looked at my crumpled bed sheets and frowned, i didn't want to go to bed just yet.

I tiptoed down the hall, stupidly glancing around in the darkness, clutching the phone to my hands.
"Yes Ellie your mind forgot to tell you that you've eaten so many carrots you can now see in the dark," I whispered. I slapped a hand over my mouth, trying to stop myself talking. My foot collided with something that I'm pretty sure was the bookshelf and i dropped the phone and released a string of swears. Ignoring the pain I got down on the ground and felt around for the phone, annoyed that i hadn't turned it on yet.
"Oh bloody hell I've got problems," i muttered to myself. After five minutes of searching I found it about a meter away. Running a hand through my hair I finally made my way outside, swinging the door open quietly.
"Ah moonlight finally," I called. I walked over to where I could see the dogs asleep on the ground. They lifted their heads curiously when they saw me approach. Jack looked at me as if to say Silly human this is the time that we sleep. I stood a little away from the house in case my voice carried and pressed in the number I'd taken from Julie's phone.
It rang a couple of times when it finally clicked and Adam's sleepy voice answered.
"Hello?"
"Hey Adam, they know something is up, and i don't know what to do, do you care, what will this do to your career, I don't want to be a bitch and be the one to spill the beans. Holy spartacus cow what if they fire you? Or what if this boosted your records or something or-"
"Ellie, calm down. Breeaaathe," he said slowly. I stopped and felt my chest heaving. I waited for him to say something. I waited and looked out across the road and stared at the forest. I saw some possums running across a branch and I followed them until Adam's voice interrupted me.
"Didn't you go home though?" he questioned.
"I did and they've followed me! And, and help me!" I cried, pacing back and forth.
"It's alright, look i'd rather not let them know. They don't know what they'll get themselves into. I think we should just tell them something else. Maybe that we were childhood friends?"
"No, because then they'll just ask questions about when you were younger. What about we go with that you saved me from another gangster?"
"I wasn't a part of a gang," he sounded offended and I rolled my eyes.
"Close enough don't you think. Anyway's I've got to go, see ya," I sad quickly. I didn't wait for him to reply and ended the call. I dropped down to the dog's level and quickly set the phone down behind me.
I faked a relaxed pose, ad started to cratch the dogs ears. Andrew sidled out the door and headed straight to me, and I knew that he'd known I was out here.
"What would you happen to be doing out here?" Andrew said slyly raising his eyebrows. I rolled my eyes and stretched my legs out. Tiny and Jack sifted up and spralwed out across my lap.
Andrew eyed them and carefully sat down next to me.
"Lovely night don't you think?" he asked, putting his hands behind my head.
"i don't think I've ever seen so many stars," he added, a content smile on his lips.
"You bloody city slicker," I scoffed. I smiled though and scratched the dog's. The silence started to creep in between us and i felt my ervousness buld up.
